I really like orchestral music that is arranged similarly
to electronic music. For example, Alarm Will Sound Performs
Aphex Twin. Not just copies of electronic music though,
like whatever was just on Xltronic radio (I think it said
Prefuse - Surrounded by Silence, but I can't be sure) and
avant garde-ish stuff like Moondog etc.

Have you heard Philip Glass's orchestral take on Icct
Hedral? It saps the life from the original. Have you heard
any Reich, John Adams etc? That stuff is shit hot.

The first track on Royal Astronomy by u-Ziq kind of has that
sound too. Scaling, I think it's called. That's a belter of
a track.

can it actually be that classical music is arranged
similarly to electronics? notice that all those orchestral
versions follow origins that are strongly connected to
classic music, even by the samples used. therefore, the same
base is used, same core,so theres not too much place for
freedom of arrangements.

i would rather say that classical music started to use
electronic experience, but only in form of ideas of it - fun
with patterns,weird,non-standard arrangements. that sort of
thing.
i propose you to find and listen to "takeo toyama" - thats
rather an experiment, a connection between orchestra - and
electronics, a little bit happy, a little bit weird, but
worth listening.

Have any of you seen "Man with the Movie Camera" (translated
from Russian)

It has great orchestral music, the movie itself is pretty
great too, not to mention it was made in the 20's.

I haven't. Other movie music fits the description, though:
the Solaris soundtrack; the 2001 soundtrack; the soundtrack
to Sonatine? Or am I way off here?

a bit off, yeah, most movie soundtracks are very typical
orchestral music. I'm looking for "weirder" stuff, though
not really weirder, because that could just as well mean
"crappier." It is a bit hard to describe, the genre doesn't
really exist save for a few stray songs here and there, that
I've heard at least

How about 'Birth of Liquid Plejades' by Tangerine Dream?
That is WAY out there!
