check out Dion Workman's album Ching... it's certainly audible, but also very palpable... moreso than anything else i can think of... it's all about the transitions... another album on the same label, antiopic, has some similar stuff going on, although it's really just a great low key insular ambient album... and that one is called "Sem", it's by David Daniell... he used to play in the guitar trio San Agustin... i listen to Sem all the damn time. both these albums own. |

Damn, Elusive really knows his shit! It went so far over my head, he really should open an IDM SpeakerZ company or something. sheesh! I think it'd be interesting to see this done.. If it were entirely inaudible frequencies, than I think the end result would be something different than music.. it'd be like what art deco or wallpaper is to drawing/painting. kind of like what Merzbow is going for.. like a sort of decor rather than something entirely demanding with the sort of cohesiveness of traditional music.. I don't really know what the hell I'm talking about, but aren't there some kind of big-assed audiophile speakers/cones that are made of wood or ceramic or something that can handle lows a lot better and are less prone to blowing? I guess I don't really even know what type of sub/speaker/whatever would generally be used to amplify those specific frequencies.. but whatever it is, I would think that a harder material would be able to emit lower tones easier. maybe the cia is working on some gargantuan graphite-titanium-diamond speaker thing to interfere with brainwaves. |
