hi guys, this is probably going to sound like a silly
question, but I haven't been able to get reason to record
midi input from my controller. I can play through malstrom
and subtractor (or both) as though they are regular
synthesizers, but when I begin recording, nothing is
actually recorded even though midi data is being
transferred. Is there some specific way I need to route the
internal reason audio so that it will go to that arranging
area? As you can see I am just beginning with reason, so
feel free to write long replies. :D

click record button, BUT you need toclick PLAY aswell, and
when you see the progress bar moving ( as if you wouldplay
any song) play your midi -notes automatically jump into
sequencer.

one note - if you modulate live, while playin, be assured
that the modulation will be recorded along with the sound -
tho you wont see anything except the mark of the sound in
sequencer.

i mean, normally you would have to automate any knob
manually. thats why playin midi live in connection with
some live-knob-turning will give you the most from reason
racks. plus, after you record it, you can still do anything
with it.

play, try,and learn :)

yeah.. i tried recording with record+play, and still the
notes do not jump into the sequencer bar. :( I'm assuming
its because i'm using a downloaded version of this program,
but does anyone know if theres a way this can be fixed? I
honestly plan on buying this software eventually but I
really can not afford a 300 dollar program right now.

check to see weather reason is set to only record from one
midi channel, specifically one youre not playing thru.

probably you forgot to turn the midi and record button on
the track you want to record. there's a difference in
hitting record on the transport bar or on the track bar.
