After 12 years of listening to Stern on terrestrial radio,
today is the last broadcast. I am a huge fan and I am kinda
sad about it. Thankfully I will be moving on to Sirius
Satellite radio to continue listening to him and his crew
after the new year.
Anyone here listening?
Will any of you be there for the move to Sirius?

I am sad and excited at the same time. The next 5 years
should be really funny.
=)

I love radio phone-ins! There's a great one in Liverpool,
with a fella called Pete Price, he gets crank called all the
time and it's funny as fuck. Howard Stern? He's sort of
played himself out. A lot of mainstream entertainment seems
to revolve around his brand of "offensive" antics. The
right-wing crank guys are much more entertaining now.

Howard didn't play himself out; he paved the way for
everybody to do his type of humor. I understand what you're
saying, though. You hear "lesbian this" and "midget that"
everywhere nowadays and it gets kind of old. Still, there's
something that Howard brings to the table that makes his
brand of humor more enjoyable than any other version. I
don't know, it's like any trend. One guy creates some
original piece of art or music or whatever that becomes
popular, mass producers get into the game, and people
eventually get sick of it.

After 15 years of listening, I still go back to the source.
Can't wait for January.

he isn't "wacky," which is a huge advantage over anyone else
who has adopted that shtick

he is a likeable person. That's what makes him different
than the copy cats. He isn't like a used car salesman. He
has a nice voice, too. I like stern. I like to listen to
them most when they are doing the news, actually. I could do
without the toilet humor for the most part.

His whole cast works well together. Him and Robin especially
work great together. Everything runs so natural. Emulating
that is near impossible. One can try and rip off his brand
of humor sure but what occurs in that show chemisrty wise is
unique.

_D_ is right. He paved the way. He is a pioneer of his style
.

I used to watch the program on E! because it wasnt broadcast
here.

i've been a huge fan since 97'. i've met up with almost
everyone from that show. they're all very nice friendly
people esp bababoey. i was very sad on friday. It was a
great show despite all the constant bitching and self
promoting during the last few years.

i won't be going to sirius unless someone gets me a radio
for christmas, which i doubt. i really love the show, but
paying for radio is just rediculous. But come monday
morning when they put on the two stupid retard clones doing
the monday morning fart song...i'll probably change my mind.
but honestly stern was the only thing other than NPR & news
that i'd listen to on radio....other than that i just listen
to cd's.

yes you can say what the guy did is no different from
whichever two local idiots they throw on after him, but the
group of people that made up that show is what made the
show. you can't copy or recreate that.
