when cars honk, you're on the wrong side of the road when they flash, they mean they love you, so you wave when someone at a stopsign looks at you, stick your arm out of the window and give him/her the finger, if it's a cop, give him the finger too, but don't forget to step on the gas immediatly
when you see me driving by in my red nissan micra, it means you drove through KM's of land and water in South-East direction
if anything else fails, turn off the car and sit there with an annoyed face

xf - as in manual transmission - with 5 gears and a gear stick. As in not automatic. Do you only have automatic in Oz?
DW - I hope you enjoy it - at first I thought it wasn't to great, but 2 years later its more valuable to me than ever...
Oddio - yes - I just need a car now!

You jammy things in the US... its ridiculously costly to drive in the UK, specially if you're young. You guys get all the best deals - our gasoline is like a million times more than yours. But I cannot moan, I am happy :)
Obara - thank you very much! I will be careful. I almost failed for being too careful, ie drivin too slow, not making positive progress etc...

Tell me about it. Last week someone wrote off my car (it was parked outside my house at the time) and then on Friday, whilst going to Halfords to get a tool I needed (to fit crash bungs, of all things), a car pulled out on me on a roundabout causing me to crash my bike. So, even if I get the full value from insurers, I still have lost hours and hours of my life on the phone due to other people's incompetence.
Hire car is a laugh though. It's a sort of factory chav'd up Corsa. A 1.2L Twinport SXi+. Sounds flash and sporty, till you realise it's just a 1.2 corsa with tinted windows, bodykit and sem-bucket seats. It's fun to drive as you're low to the ground and can go sideways round roundabouts, but in true boy racer style the fuel injection map is for performance, at the expense of smooth delivery of power, so wheelspins a-plenty in the wet and fine throttle control is an impossibility. The rather shite gearstick layout means stalling when shifting from reverse to first is a regular occurance too.
Congratulations on passing Clint, just watch out for senile fools with the reactions and observations of a sloth and at the other end of the spectrum, boy racers who think residential streets are a great place to charge turns and run wide into parked cars.

Thanks again chaps.
Xeron - it wont be a problem once you master the clutch really... I've only stalled a handful of times since I've been driving, and after a while you will just stop it altogether. Worst part about the test - acknowleging every bloody sign. You miss one speed sign, you're fucked. Also, observations - I'm normally quite lazy, but today just forced myself to become obsessive about looking in mirrors etc every second. Even if its obviously safe, if you don't do your 'right, left, right again' checks when emerging, it will probably go down as a major and fail you...
