I've devised a nice little tag that I can do quite well by hand with a pen/pencil, but when I do it using a marker/felt tip, it looses a lot of its flow and becomes a bit jerky/stilted. Any tips on how to make the transition to a larger writing implement less painful?
BTW this is for a bit of gear, not defacement of bus shelters and slander of ex-girlfriends, etc.
Cheers in advance.

Oh yes, not just using the larger pens, but actually doing it on a larger scale; letters about 6cm high, rather than 1cm.

Practice is the best key for me.
I found myself trying to rework some ideas. When you change mediums (pen, marker, whatever) there is always a bit of a transitional phase. The best thing is to look for specific contours and try to find a rythym to it. The best looking stuff comes naturally and isnt forced (so i say :p)
Have you tried doing it rediculously lazy and carelessly just to see the effect and then try to blend the two. I found that working recently

Yes, the main problem I've found is when replicating the smaller one is that it doesn't go smoothly like a signature, but instead I'm conciously trying to copy the smaller one and doing it slowly, so it looks jerky and crap.
Qrter: Surely the disclaimer about how'd be used added to that effect?
Ecnad: Yes, I'm considering this, but then it wouldn't be my tag. I doubt any good taggers would want to copy my little hand drawn one and blow it up for me.
Another Q: What's a good one for drawing on a matt black surface, I'm assuming a tippex pen, but they're rarely smooth, they tend to be a bit scratchy.

I dont think youre going to be able to replicate a tag done in ball point pen with a broad tipped marker, unless of course you try to copy it incredibly huge to make the line widths and lengths proportionate to your original. Remember round tip styles cannot be adapted well into caligraphy styles. If youre in to the former, use a round tip Decco brand paint marker, or even a Sakura or Mean Streak solid-paint marker. Either of those will give your decks that authenticly vandalized look. I strongly recomend the Decco markers though, they come in lots of colors, tips, and line sizes. They're also perfect for catching that spot in those hard to reach places.

1) Masturbate frequently. This will get your hands used to holding things of a larger diameter. Wait, this won't work in your case.
2) Kill people. Primitive violence triggers the Cerebelodamus-Oreximus area of the brain, the same area used for learning how to tag with markers.
3) Wear extra socks. When the feet are warm, it transfers kinetic energy to the upper body, increasing the ability to hold on to things.
4) Kill me. Shoot me in the forehead when I'm not expecting it. This might not help you tag with markers better but it will help me immensly.
