isn't that why twin peaks started sucking serious dick in like the last 10 episodes or so? because lynch wasn't doing it?

sounds pointless for all concerned, super pointless without lynch and i can't imagine him having anything to do with a no brainer like this.

Not to dis Mark Frost here Lynch is the mondo freako artist, Frost gave the thing structure and a backbone
Lynch the Auteur, Right Brain Frost the Practitionar of TV, Left Brain true by the end of second series it was getting a bit patchy, but plenty of crazy shit went down too, Duchovny in drag anyone?
And that finale was devastating, evil Cooper smashing his head into the mirror has been often imitated but never surpassed...
Revisitng Twin Peaks could be interesting but will risk trodding too many fond memories
Cooper as a chracter was incredibly deep and complex... Adventures in metaphysical investigations of the loony FBI agent as a series....not essentially bound in the town of TWIN PEAKS...is a lot more palatable for me
You might say, wait they already did that.. X Files
I will say, not quite, didn't quite have the magic and madness that can still be mined in a series such I just described starring Agent Coop... with or without Lynch

um sad news brewing on this front..
"In 2002 The Guardian ran a profile of MacLachlan. 'He hasn't worked with Lynch since Twin Peaks, he says, because "with that character a really dark ink was used and I think it needs to fade out a little more."' I doubt then that MacLachlan, who has always seemed to want to appear independent of Lynch (and appeared in Fire Walk With Me only begrudgingly), would be interested in reprising the character yet again.
Also in 2002, Mark Frost was interviewed by Luke Ford, and he said of Mullholand Drive (which he'd not yet bothered to see), 'I heard it was a mess. I knew that the pilot was a mess.' In general, his remarks on Lynch had a rather McCartney-pissing-on-Lennon air about them.
And this past September www.lynchnet.com ran this story:
'Lynch Denies New Cooper Movies Rumor
'In the chat room on his website, Lynch denied he's making new telemovies featuring Kyle MacLachlan's Dale Cooper character from Twin Peaks:
Sk8AleX1 [12:24 AM PST]: Can you please tell me if the rumors are true that you might make mini movies based on Agent Cooper?
DAVIDLYNCH [12:25 AM PST]: THE RUMORS ARE NOT TRUE'
He wasn't answering a question about a feature film, but his brusqueness may be telling. "
it will be sad if this goes ahead with the two still loggerheads..(heh loggerheads...)

Whatever the case may be, I've heard it confirmed from various sources (including people on the set), that Kyle MacLachlan IS indeed involved in a Lynch project right now, although in a minor way. That project would be Lynch's next feature film, the DV project "Inland Empire", destined for next year. But if Kyle is involved, he's not a major player, because the main roles are given to OTHER old Lynch-i-ites, like Laura Dern, Justin Theroux and Harry Dean Stanton, plus introducing Jeremy Irons.
To be frank, I'm much more excited about this new film than any Frost-only Twin Peaks season 3 (or spin-off).
I can still remember that freaky (mostly-Frost) Lynch-collaboration, "On The Air", which was a total catastrophe, frankly. But DEFINITELY worth seeing for the first and last episodes' sake, which were Lynch's handwriting.
