I have decided that bass rocks my socks!
Anyone got any ideas on tracks that have nasty sub-bass sounds to try out on my system?
I've been listening to the video version of All Is Full Of Love, with the 40hz frequencies pumped up, and its bowel shakingly good. Also, My Red Hot Car is pretty sweet.
Any ideas?

tipper !!!
when i saw fourtet last month, or wait, two months ago, he hit this low rumble that almost gave me an anxiety attack but it felt strangely familiar - the sensation
my friend turned to me after it and said "wow, that was like being on nitrous"
he was right, and it was amazing !!!

Also, Sunn 0))) have NASTY sub bass shit going on. Their live performances apparently shake the audiences insides something crazy.
First track from White 2 sounds excellent with the low end cranked.

I had it at a festival, Smashing Pumpkins were playing (this was after "siamese dreams" and before "melon collie") and the bass was turned up much, much too high.
you could feel it thumping against your chest, it made it hard to breathe.

That sounds excellent. I love the physical sensation of bass. At the Pusher gig, Vibert played this track with a bass sound that slowly dropped in frequency right to the lowest freq. As it went down you could feel it in your bowels.

Whilst it carries easily and is antisocial as hell, v. low bass isn't very bad for your ears at all (it's the high freqs that do it), so feel free to crank it up!
Generally speaking: Valve systems are great for reproducing low freqs, transistor amps are more robust/portable, but can't go quite so low. Be wary of these "bass enhancement" systems you get on cheap hi-fis/portable players. They often just EQ boost around the lowest frequency they can produce, resulting in a rather murky sound. Double bass sounds great when it's well reproduced, but is one of the worst things in terms of losing detail on crap systems.

low bass can easily rupture your ear drums.
20hz waves are a LOT of displacement/pressure.
the problem is it takes a lot of power and efficient designing to attain high dB levels at those frequencies,
but i wouldnt for a second think that 20hz could NOT damage my hearing ....

im not using anything
that was in my trunk but i got tired of all the added body roll on the suspension from the extra weight in the trunk, and quite frankely i just got a little sick of bass, even though i hadnt much played it loud anymore.
so nothing for now.
although i was thinking of using that driver and building like a 20 cubed box and porting it up into the living room, tuned extremely low.
i took it out also to give my lungs a break ive had 2 spontaneous pneumothoraxes, and recent studies show that a lot of people are getting them from concerts or from large stereo systems in their car (makes sense; pressure changes from bass)...so yaknow

well.. yes.. it is also rumored to be at 5, 9, 22 and 4 hz. that file contains 5, 9 and 22 plus 5 and 22 in absolute sine.. the 22 absolute sine is probably the one you're hearing.

any low freq like that at a high power can cause unexpected results with your internal systems.
