how far do you go in sampling other peoples stuff? how far
in do you feel that it is "too far" or you have sampled too
much?

friend taught me a lot of chords on the piano and since then
i have been sampling a lot less..

nothing wrong with sampling but being original and unique is
the key here

i'd say in most cases the samples i use are obscure or
unrecognizable by the time i'm done with them.

but everything i do is for non-commercial purposes (aka no
one is interested in buying my music) so i sample, chop fold
and grind whatever i will.

I don't know where I read rage either, one thing's for sure,
Ray was not the intended title, so let's say we're ALL
WINNERS!

Ahh, from Answers.com

"The song contains samples of comedians Peter Cook and
Dudley Moore, taken from the first Derek and Clive LP, Derek
and Clive Live, specifically the sketch entitled 'Bo
Duddley'. [1]
(http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=35732) [2]
(http://www.discogs.com/release/64961) Voodoo Ray combines a
truncated sample of Peter Cook delivering the phrase
"voodoo rage", and also includes Dudley Moore
forcefully delivering the word "later!"."

Some house music tunes really are copies of others.

Some sampling is good. Some is bad.

I don't really ever do it myself, or enjoy it when other
arists do it on the whole. I'm sure there's skill involved
in using other music samples successfully, and I do like
some tracks which sample other tunes a lot, but I sometimes
get dissapointed when I discover that a track I have enjoyed
is mostly just other tunes cut up and edited with some new
sounds thrown in. I know that's ridiculous; the end product
is what is important, not the process-but it's just
something that bothers me.
