I think giving laptops to third world kids is a really odd idea.
"Today's laptops have become obese. Two-thirds of their software is used to manage the other third, which mostly does the same functions nine different ways."
Is that true?

that's really a shitty idea to give these things to kids who don't even have electricity. how about spending a hundred dollars on buying impoverished families electricity or fucking livestock? no, of course this asshole with his laptops, which are little more than televisions with built-in games. people don't even have drinking water and they're trying to give computers away... i guess it's more important that kids see adverts on google than eat.

apparently so. why don't you enlighten me by explaining what is positive about throwing all this money away on computers when there are people who can't even afford to eat? are you unaware that in america, many teachers have to pay out of pocket for things like crayons and other supplies for the kids to use? and here they want to invest in laptops? you don't need a fucking computer at all - it's a luxury. i think we'd be better off without them in most cases. certainly kids don't need them.

Who gives a fuck about America? These haven't even been designed with America in mind in case it escaped your attention. Also, because people can't eat it means technology shouldn't be developed that could at least help in providing a better standard of knowledge and education to people who would never be able to afford a full corporate laptop?
Having such a blinkered view is a dangerous thing, no matter how good your intentions are.

i was obviously just giving examples. i'm not saying anyone should be deprived of a better education. i am just saying two things: i doubt the efficiency of computers to teach children, especially when it comes to learning to write; there are much more immediate, life and death situations happening in the world right now which require massive funding like this.

Who said this required massive funding? It is innovation through the technological education sector with a very practical application. You are also very wrong about the efficiency of using computers as an educational aid. In fact you are just wrong.
