Plus I rather like Hall & Oates as they are. Mrs d_b has The
Very Best of, Family Man, Private Eye, Maneater, Adult
Education... fine as they are, thanks.

My mates (Bent) did a fantastic remix of Hall & Oates. Their
label wasn't happy, but H & O liked it and made the record
company allow them to release it!

From Wikipedia:

While much of the duo's reputation is due to its sustained
pop-chart run in the 1980s, Hall & Oates are also respected
for their ability to cross style boundaries. To this day, "I
Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" is one of the most-sampled
songs by R&B and hip-hop groups over the last 25 years,
being referenced by acts from Heavy D & the Boyz to Tamia.
The song is also heavily sampled in the 2003 hit "Sunrise"
by Simply Red.

Another song from the Private Eyes album, the arena-rocker
In 2004, a dance act called Uniting Nations sampled Hall &
Oates hit "Out Of Touch". The song, also called "Out Of
Touch", achieved success across Europe and had a long UK
chart run which spanned over several months. The song has
also been remixed to less popularity by the smaller dance
acts Playaz and Up Top.

LAZY_HALL_&_OATES

My favourite moment was when their faces were used in Brass
Eye in the Paedogeddon episode.

'i can't go for that' is a monster, brilliantly sampled by
de la soul. i'm still trying to remember the LJ track
though...

It was released on an album by Nottingham only dudes, put
together by the staff at The Loft, on Mansfield Road.

Here is a link for it, you can listen to the tracks from the

I was thinking a more Jason Forrest-meets-edIT approach to
the this.

thats really funny - my friend who makes what a lot of
people call "soul-hop" (essentially sampling soul or using
it as a strong influence in performance style) had this idea
this time last year - im sure he made a couple tracks but
never sent me any (he refuses to use the internet for
exchanging tracks...!!!)...wonder what came of that

Your friend "had the idea" that just happened to be the same
idea LOTS of people have had... over the past 15 years. Like
I had the idea of sampling Led Zeppelin, just after I heard
Puff Daddy do it.

My mate has a cd with just the drumming off loads of Led Zep
albums. That got sampled to fuck. Don't know how he got it,
but I know he shouldn't have it....

bands of all time before it was a common thing...who gives a

I know that, to the post modern brain, there's no difference
between 20 years ago and last year but, for those of us with
20th Century values, I would say that it does come across as
strange.
