it has never worked predictably for me, though my computer
is pretty wily anyway

YAY! IT WORKED!!!

oh man, i was totally freaking out. we have a show tomorrow
night. right at the end of practice tonight, my computer
crashed. The power in the rehersal studio is really bad and
when there are slight surges, it sometimes makes my computer
freeze... my god. oh what a relief.

BTW. Siege of Kaffa tomorrow night in seattle at el
corazon.

if you are close, you should come out. if you are on
another continent, wish me luck!

Have you also thought about to only re-installing Ableton?

Enjoy!

all system restore does is return your PC back to an earlier
snapshot of 'system files' and your registry.

usually works quite well. if you've installed anything over
the past week or two or changed any settings in an app i'd
double check to see if they still work OK, though.

better with norton ghost.

create a bootable cd... works independently of you os.

if it's all fucked, you just restore to a previous ghost
file and it will all be spanky again.

yeah it seemed to work. i don't know exactly what went
wrong but i think when the power blipped and my computer
crashed, it was in the middle of saving my file or
something... don't know.

what a relief. i was feeling sick to my stomach. such bad
timing for something like that to happen. when i restored
and ableton started up fine, i was so happy i got light
headed.

That's good that it's working. Sometimes I've had to do a
system restore and it worked perfectly.
