Yeh as I recall they ain't. If you want to produce a list of words from a sentence you go wordlist = wmwsentence.split(" ") Then decrement a counter and use indexing to pick off the words backwards and reassemble the sentence. There's ten zillion more elegant ways to do that of course. |

It is most definitely not as bad as Java. have you seen the specification for generics? Python is nice as a first language, since it allows a couple different paradigms and can be picked up quickly. Honestly I don't know the language but I recommended it because of that, the collection of libraries, and the interpreter. Ruby is my usual scripting language, but it has huge gaping holes (no native threads, scope leaks from their wannaba-lambdas, blah). Seriously, basically all languages suck. He WAS using C++, which is almost the dumbest thing in the universe. C# stole that crown with the 3.0 spec. Eventually I'll start prodding him to learn haskell. |

oh yeah, the automatic posting scripts I wrote for xlt used a thin layer of C (to build a network communication library), but the bulk of the code was in ruby. I at one point wrote a more heavy duty program which, err, did a lot of stuff in parallel, and that was all in C. |

I should also mention that the python whitespacing rules are completely braindamaged, and they should follow haskell's layout module; namely, haskell has explicit structuring syntax which can be omitted if you follow certain formatting guidelines, but the point is you can violate them. |
