Spark's second album is a huge departure from the melodic
electronica of his previous album, "The Robotic Girl Next
Door". On "Super Robot Battle Deluxe", Spark experiments
with breakcore and noise, with little success. The first
track, "My Human Objective", is hardly human at all.
Downtempo beats and drum 'n' bass-style rhythms are ruined
by the horrible white noise at its end. Sadly, most of the
tracks continue in this vain, with little in the way of
melody. The only redeeming tracks are "Memor", a return to
the sound on "The Robotic Girl Next Door" , and "Sick To
Death", which is comparable to some of Venetian Snares'
work. I made the huge mistake of buying this cd without
having heard it first, a case of try before you buy. Very
disapointing.

I quite dig The Robotic Girl Next Door so I might give it
try.
