Blackthorne: And yes folks it would almost have to be sly stallone. Thats the only person i could picture
Duke Nuke em: It was rumored to be in production with Dolf Lundren(sp?)

i don't want to see any videogames made into movies.
what's more, i can't think of anything less appealing than watching such a movie..
Flashback though, that was that savage french platform game, wasn't it? animal buzz.

Metal Gear Solid? Deus Ex? Red Faction? Manhunt? Beyond Good and Evil? I dunno, I could imagine these games translating into good movies but I'd still shudder if I heard someone
actually started making one (especially if it was Uwe Boll). It's not impossible to make a good movie out of these, just very very improbable.
I'd love a Sly Cooper cartoon, I could dig that. Nearly fool proof. Blackthorn would be cool too.

What the hell would be the point of an MGS movie? The game is already extremely cinematic as it is. You're practically playing a movie.

So you wouldn't have to play it. Compress all that mythos and incorporate all that style into a taut 2 hour feature film.
Not that I'd EVER want it to happen. But if done right, it would work. It's no more pointless than any other movie based on a game you could just play in lieu of watching a movie based on it.

Neither do I, but it has to happen, there's cash in them there cows. Might as well hope for a good product, they're not going to be making movies based on Triggerman or Superman 64. I usually watch video game movies just out of curiousity, I've never seen one I'm happy with.

well, now that they finally translated one game, final fantasy 7, into a pretty damn good anime (the recent Advent Children, not that hyper-boring and useless The Spirits Within), I don't have to suggest that one.
Other than that, most of those mentioned before (Deus Ex, Deus Ex!), plus the following:
Xenogears - anime would be fitting (there IS a series for Xenosaga, but that's not supposed to be so great; besides, xenosaga ain't xenogears). Or CGI could be even better.
How about some Lucasarts adventure games, like Maniac Mansion 1 or 2 - but please, not The Dig! I can already picture Bruce Willis in Armageddon 2: The Dig.
And of course Tomb Raider - oh wait... ehm never mind! I realize now that most games would make better CGI Lara Croft films than real life Angelina Jolie films. Or even Milla Jovovich films. Or even Christopher Walken as Raiden -films.

Manhunt... but there are rules. They need a big budget, all indie actors and it needs to be unrated. Sound track by Rephlex yet again.
That game was amazing. That was original to the fullest

i really wish the silent hill movie would've been good. maybe an original story would've been better. I think there's just too much to explain in that universe to make a decent movie, though. either you'd be boring everyone who already knows or leaving out important information for everyone who doesn't. they managed to do both with what they did make.
i think oddworld: stranger's wrath would make a decent animated movie, but it wouldn't be anything groundbreaking. i just found that game pretty entertaining.
