I'm looking for albums that've changed the way you approach
music, your outlook on music, or your life in general.

This is not a "your favourite albums ever" thread - consider
the thread title carefully: Albums that've changed your
life. Alright?

Mine are -

Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out
Autechre - Amber
Aphex Twin - DrukQs
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats, Grand Wazoo
Martha Argerich - Rachmaninov's 3rd Piano Concerto /
Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano Concerto
The Beatles - Abbey Road
Metallica - And Justice For All
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream, MCIS
The Redneck Manifesto - Cut your heart off from your head
Jeru The Damaja - The Sun Rises in the East
A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
Joe Pass - Virtuoso
Al Di Meola - Elegant Gypsy
Joni Mitchell - Blue

i'm 30, and a vinyl junky

but i'd have to say the albums that did this are the first 2
i got as a kid, Duck rock by Malcolm mclaren
Invisible silence by the Art of Noise
and

later
90 by 808 state
and then in 91/92 i heard pacman and Digeridoo by aphex twin
:)

and the Orb also influenced me greatly,

hope this helps

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells, Ommadawn, The Songs Of
Distant Earth, Amarok (actually, all his albums with 1 or 2
exceptions)
Jarre - Oxygene, Equinoxe
Dead Can Dance - Spiritchaser, Aion
Cocteau Twins - Stars And Topsoil, Blue Bell Knoll
Vangelis - El Greco, Blade Runner
Sigur Ros - ()
Therion - Theli
Autechre - Incunabula, EP7
Aphex twin - RDJ Album, Come to Daddy
H. M. Gorecki - III Symphony
Tool - Undrtow
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Moonspell - Irreligious
Prodigy - No Good (my first ever CD)
Radiohead - Amnesiac
(And mysterious compilation casette: "Shape rave" borrowed
from a friend back in 1996)

Every album I buy, I try to treat like a human being, so
it's a process of constant change, but those are the most
important without whom I'd feel somehow incomplete.

After to have listened to Envane, what can you say about
Autechre? I remember that was your first ep that you
listened, released by them right? I mean, do you like their
music now? Which are other albums you like?

Another album I'd suggest is Confield, but it's an album
that will grow with time and I can understand the fear some
people are feeling during the first listening. Just give it
some time.

well yeah it was pretty much the first ae i listend to
properly, all the other tracks i heard by them up untill
that point had just been skimmed over and discarded...after
a few listens i was impressed! it didnt jump out straight
away but thats why admired it.

so after evane i was dragged onto the untitled bangwagon,
listend to a few tracks and thought it was cack!.that soon
enough droped down to the bottom of the things to do
pile.next came draft and soon after a heap of eps.still
havent listned to untitled properly yet

I re-listened to untilted today, it's probably the fifth
time, I believe. I can say every time I re-play autechre
stuff I always discover tracks that I hadn't never
appreciated or I used to skip them while I was playing an
album maybe.

I think you really need to listen more stuff released by
them, you're on the right way to become a fanboi :)

Try We R Are Why now, great and rare ep.

My grandfather gave me hundreds of country vinyls last year
including just about everything KK did and I finally got to
soak up his greatness. He instantly made the hair on my
chest thicker and coarser.

Now that you mention it, Green Day- Dookie probably changed
my life, too... granted it was way back in elementary but I
can't say they weren't important or that I can't still enjoy
most of the songs on there.
