RDJ IS Squarepusher

7362i on 2001-03-01 22:08 [#00000662]

No doubt about it, they are the same person.

hedtwin from Manchester, England. on 2001-03-01 22:56 [#00000663]

wow, imagine if that was true. Like, RDJ has a mask that he
wore and pretended to be squarepusher. There is only one
flaw in this plan, they have been seen in teh same room
together :-(

7362i on 2001-03-01 22:57 [#00000664]

Sure but has anyone seen Squarepusher programme a tune?

7362i on 2001-03-01 23:00 [#00000666]

Squarepusher is some guy hired by Aphex - it's a Stephen
King/Richard Bachman type stunt, I guarantee it.

Tell me - are the beats on Selection 16 not exactly like
those on the Richard James album?

7362i on 2001-03-01 23:04 [#00000667]

remember those blokes who fronted Milli Vanilli? Someone
else made the music, while they pretended they did it.

Mr. Bighead from Coolidge, AZ on 2001-03-01 23:10 [#00000668]

so does richard play drums and bass and dig fusion/bebop
just like tom too?

7362i on 2001-03-01 23:23 [#00000669]

OK It's a mad theory and I wouldn't bet money on it

but the style of the break beats is so similar in places to
that on the Richard D James album it's plain spooky

you know - the real over the top clattering drums?

I guess it's just coincidence or influence or something

nano from malmö on 2001-03-02 08:09 [#00000674]

you just bourght the two albums and thought they sounded
similar or what?
i'd say that you show no respect to tom when claiming that
he didn't make his music. i have not listen to the two songs
together yet but will when i get home today, witch song is
it on RDJs album?
and afterall, it might even be aphex that made some stuff
for squarepusher or even the other way, but beleve me, tom
jenkinson is squarepusher, and makes the music.

7362i on 2001-03-02 12:52 [#00000676]

OK I admit that this theory is a complete load of bull.

Sleep deprivation does strange things to the mind...

And no offence to Tom Jenkinson - track 5 especially is shit
hot whoever wrote it - whoever being the Square Pusher.

tune*pr from t.o. on 2001-03-02 15:37 [#00000680]

Tom just really respects RDJ and thinks in the same style.
He is coming from JAZZ, baby! :-)

daan_e from Utrecht on 2001-03-02 16:40 [#00000681]

If anyone's influenced, it might be RDJ himself.
Squarepusher's debut "Feed Me Weird Things" demonstrates a
fully developed hectic style, which subsequently emerges in
Aphex Twin's very best: RDJ Album. (Of course, this is not
quite true, I believe the sort of hecticism we find on RDJ
Album is also present on the Hangable Auto Bulb records (but
I don't own them so I can't really say)). Still, Square was
freakin' it pretty early in history himself.

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-03-03 05:22 [#00000688]

I disagree on Daan_e on that the RDJ Album is the "Best".
Personally, I enjoy SAW and SAWII. All get me really fucked
up in a mood that no other album of James' does. However I
must admit, RDJ Album is right up there with everything
else.
About this Squarepusher bizz, just listen to Budakhan
Mindphone and understand Gong Acid is nothing to what RDJ
does. Completely opposite.

AFXDUB from canada on 2001-03-29 03:39 [#00001809]

7362i: your an idiot... theres no way they are the same
person.

Earface from Dnalgne on 2001-03-29 08:21 [#00001823]

Man, you should be shot in the face. Aphex Twin and
Squarepusher are different artists. If you can't note the
distinction then you should be DEAD. DIE CUNT DIE
HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA

7362i is rich

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-29 07:15 [#00046565]

im suprised no one has mentioned squarepusher and afx
playing live shows in different places at different times.

pottle of ice cream on 2001-10-29 07:20 [#00046570]

yeah but .. think about it

Chrispy from UK on 2001-10-29 11:33 [#00046639]

2Pac hired Vanilla Ice for his music. 'strue that. yep.
Same person. Definatly

MF on 2001-11-01 12:52 [#00047738]

No they're not the same Richard is tom jones thou

PearlsGirrl from chicago on 2001-11-01 14:38 [#00047747]

whats new pussycat woooooo oooo oohhh ohhh

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-01 15:57 [#00047756]

ya know, richard has made music for and posed under
different names before, he has even had friends back up the
alias, saying that they are the artist in question. anyone
heard dedicated loop off selection 16?
it has that "o'rite" yell at the end from the live part of
cowcud is a twin, off icbyd.
im not saying i think its true, but hes done it before and
it wouldnt suprise me.

its also strange that square pusher got 'sick' right as
richard started touring

bump

Ophecks on 2001-11-01 16:10 [#00047757]

Is it true that Justin Timberlake is one of Richard's
aliases?

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-01 16:13 [#00047760]

Additional info
Bradley Strider is one of Richard's most incredible alter
ego's. In fact it's not just another alias but a real
person, Manuel Sepulveda.

the manuel bloke would say he was bradley. is that right??
correct me if im wrong, phob.

Bogus on 2001-11-01 16:59 [#00047764]

"its also strange that square pusher got 'sick' right as
richard started touring
"

that's stupid... because that doesn't point to anything...
tom and richard are 2 different people... maybe SP music is
made by rich.. who knows? but on live shows the one who
appears is tom not rich. now you're going to say that on sp
shows richard is backstage playing the actual music?

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-01 17:39 [#00047771]

like i said, i didnt say i believe it, its just that it
wouldnt suprise me, i love tom jenkinson's work.
squarepusher is one of my alltime favorite musicians and i
listen to him religiously.

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-01 17:41 [#00047772]

and ive seen them perform, they both were backstage.
almost everyone on rephlex does it this way.
bogdan performs in a box/table thing.

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-11-01 17:57 [#00047774]

"...them both playing live shows at the same time in
different places"

That doesnt prove anything, Tom Jenkinson is obviously a
music-creating and performing robot designed by Rich.
Remember how he talks about writing programs to make music
for him? Well thats just what he's done, only, this new
piece of software is anything but soft. Anyone who doubts
that Tom Jenkinson is Richard's robot is an idiot. How else
do you explain their similar styles?

Ophecks on 2001-11-01 18:49 [#00047781]

What are you on about now, twat? Ha.
If SP really WAS RDJ, wouldn't that beat all? I mean, that
would be the trick or the century, if not the decade. I'd
laugh till my head came off, then my rolling head would keep
giggling.

a big sausage from gutter on 2001-11-01 18:57 [#00047787]

who gives a flying fuck anyway it's all good music

hevquip from a giraffes throat on 2001-11-01 19:16 [#00047791]

rdj is squarepusher, who comes up with this stupid crap? who
would actually believe that they're the same person? what a
ridiculous, stupid theory.

Daddy on 2001-11-01 19:25 [#00047794]

listen to u guys, this sounds just like the time when
everyone was saying Rick Ashley was Kylie slowed down by
Stock, Ackin and Watermans hit factory,

fuck beats, anybody can produce any beat known to man or
alien

hevquip from a hawks colon on 2001-11-02 02:40 [#00047839]

you know what a beat is? it's sound divided into 4. chang
around placement and timing after that.

luke on 2001-11-02 04:41 [#00047871]

or a branch crashing on an artificial eardrum/trampoline -
to get the

. . . . . . . ... etc effect

and sometimes a beat can also be a sine wave - but that is a
little more difficult

hoser on 2001-11-02 19:14 [#00048061]

"you know what a beat is? it's sound divided into 4. chang
around placement and timing after that."

that's a pretty stupid statement. you obviously don't know
anything about music.

I think you may be onto something.... Squarepusher is
Richards music-making robot, giving him more free time to
shag and whatnot

what's so improbable about Richard being Squarepusher? yeah,
they've been seen in the same room together, BUT WE ALL KNOW
APHEX TWIN ISN'T EVEN A HUMAN BEING, ANYWAY. He's probably
an alien, of sorts, that moves fast he can look to be in two
places at once. Oh yes and ummm Richard actually IS Justin
Timberlake, I hear

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! THis subject has come up a couple times,
obviously 7362i doesnt own Feed me weird things. On the
sleeve it explains how Aphex twin met Square pusher. Aphex
twin is richard d. james . Squarepusher is tom jenkinson.
Ive seen pictures of each of them. You can obviously tell
squarepusher is a bass player, has his own style of drums
etc. Aphex is a composer, samples piano's and all kinds of
instruments, sounds completely differnet. The both do drill
and bass, and are considered IDM other than that there
pretty different.
