No but I know lots of Japan. One of my school friends lives
in shibuya. It's allways toyland (the six floor toy shop),
tokyu hands for silly presents and selectadisc for records.
+ the all night darts is great near the naughty district.

I get most CDs from Cisco.
Darts? I never played.
Where do you live?

so pig face is really terrible?? i think here it would be
fairly comic....at least amongst mates. i think spanish is
the filthiest language bar none espeically in south america.
for
example standard greeting amongst friends may even oiiii
wassup motherfucking son of a bitch puff/fag , calling
someone a gay/fag amongst friends is a positive believe it
or not , which belies the homophobic-ness of most young uns
there....well under 21s anyways.........further examples the
verb used for stuff it - is a play on fisting..harh.///
maybe its jus because i was chilling in the ghettos.

you should play darts just to be in league with this man.

oh and if you like Boards of canada so much you should check
out Skam records , in particular; bola , gescom [for the
low slung dirty beats] , qunioline yellow , the mask
series...

just never buy a record by tycho , ever , EVER.

you seem competent to answer this; what's/where's the
importance of the skampler? (this is a serious question).

do you mean when taken as a standalone CD or as in the
impact of its contents at large ?

in anycase for me it defines the early SKAM sound - crunchy
beats with a heavy hip hop foundation in terms of riddim -
see the gescom tracks..... the playful melodies juxtaposed
with elektro 808 style beats ( lego feet ) bola being bola
and of course fucking everything you do is a balloon and so
forth which brings us back do our friends Boards of Canada!!

i really love it , it seems like a real statement of intent
, but its not really "up to date" as it lacks doyobi , qunny
, A&E , 76ix , meam and so forth....... but yeah there is
such a purity and authenticity to the sound - you know they
do it cuz they love it - and the skampler kinda sums up the
earlier days of the label , mood and all... but obviously
its all offa various 12"s so really its records like the
early gescom , hi scores , bola , MASK etc which define skam
for me....

it was originally intended to be a usa only thing [1998],
so perhaps for some USA denziens it might mean a whole lot
more... i can only imagine hearing it with no previous
reference points! all said its a fucking top compliation ,
ideal to sit back with a joint and just ...you know ,rinsin'
it.

well, i was thinking both really. those are some nice
views/thoughts there, thanks!
(i have to write an essay on it, about 4, 5 pages..)

amazing!dude all i got was godamn shakespeare and hitler for
essays...... what are you studying/doing it for ?? would
gladly help out with anything more , as i'm on a "gap year"
or rather making music and taking drugs year , so im free as
a a metaphorical bird.

i reckon a bit of a sticky point though is deffo the fact
that its pretty much all stuff that was on 12"s so from a
music history point of view its not really anything new ,
just a summary of skam doing what they do...i reckon the
artwork is something to look at - all matt black with just a
sort of indented skampler logo and the brail - classic//
espicially as this is the antithesis of what a compliation
should do...no hello we are skam and we do blah blahl balhal
....

plus the insert feautres a really mundane sort of ... piss
hole of a room - i think something skam like is using the
mundane - like quinoline yellows cd smelling of a portable
toilet.... turning motor engines into crazy odd images ,
meam mashing up some bloke sitting in a chair with fit
inducing strobe visuals.... i really sense the same sort of
purity that a band like the fall have in classic skam
stuff...i know the sound is nothing alike ...id have to
think about it a bit more but just think mark e smith would
chat shit about anyold crap and equally gescom will use /
create a sample which is basically a crappy sound like a
dirty eeeeeeeeek or squeeel or some shit and revolve an
entire track around it! same sort of ethos i reckon......

big up manc!

I'm thinking of going to live in Tokyo. Can you recommend
any good clubs?

Sure, most big shows are at Akasaka Blitz, but I like
smaller club like Bullets and Yellow in Nishiazabu. There
are lots of little clubs in Shibuya and Shinjuku, also.
When will you go?
