Most, if not all, of your questions should be answered with
a swift perusal of this page

foobar 200.most serious player, really theres no need to
imitate some cheap plastic hi-fi on your screen, as winamp
does, when you just want to listen to music. thats one
advantage. second one - all of the features, which winamp
lacks, giving you loads of bollocks,inter-hyper-active net
options which you never use, including ripping CD's,as
proffesionals will do it on standalone appl. not in some
free mp3 player :P

anyway, foobar works excellent, flac decoder is everywhere to
download,and voila!

winamp has a plugin for FLACs. that seems to work quite
well.

I installed foobar once to try it out and it completely
hijacked my os. Icons went barmy, program assosiations all
got hogged by it, even though I told it not to associate
itself with any type of file, and when I tried to remove it
to get things back the way they were it wouldn't uninstall.
I spent huors getting things back to normal. Well, never
again. Winamp for me.

FILES on your comp man !! you'll gonna have various colors
following the audio types and it's beautiful !!

seems you had something wrong with your OS,as normally
foobar is tooas a lapplication to do the mess you described.
try once again.

the fact: people that started to use foobar after winamp
never got back to winamp after all.

people use winamp only for it's skin. I use foobar for
listening to music.
Oh and FLAC-frontend is a good app for that

and here we go again fighting about what is the best fuckin
mp3 player, while the actual thread is about how to convert
stuff to FLAC

btw. is there a way to show dynamic bitrates in foobar?

and went back to winamp.

You can use $if3(%__bitrate_dynamic%,%__bitrate%) in
whatever field you are trying to display the bitrate in to
display the dynamic bitrate if it exists. For this to work
you also have to make sure you have "Real-time bitrate
display" checked in Preferences > Playback > Input >
Standard inputs, otherwise it will just display the average
bitrate.

I like foobar a lot. It's fully customizable so you can
make it be a huge player that takes up the whole screen like
Windows Media or iTunes, or you can make it small like
Winamp. I used to hate it because it would take forever to
load large playlists, but I found out if you enable the
"database" it only has to take a long time to load
everything once.

I use dbPowerAmp to encode/convert FLACs.

No, my OS is fine. Foobar fucked up. Simple as that. And
that the same thing didn't happen to the handful of people
here doesn't mean it didn't happen, or it's my fault and I
resent the implication that it was.

the third exception: i also used foobar after winamp, and
went back to winamp

Is there a FLAC plugin for iTunes available?

I actually use... Winamp. To listen to music... Blowing my
mind, here.

In case anyone is interested............

the illininable filters for WMP suck dogs balls. They have
stopped working for some reason and they only ever allowed
me to play one file at a time, never queue up a range of
tracks.......

So now I'm using dBpowerAMP Audio Player

the third exception: i also used foobar after winamp,

To encode and covert lame's I use dbPowerAmp:
LAZY_TITLE

To playblack them I use this plugin for Winamp:
LAZY_TITLE (although I think the new version of Winamp
might have this built in)

I only use Winamp2 skins for Winamp5 so Winamp is
essentially a extreme lite version of Winamp 2.9x. I'm not
sure if people realise this happens if you use the old skins
for winamp.

oops, I mean FLAC not lame. My bad, for some reason I always
get the names mixed up. The links still apply though to
playback FLACs.
