Overlooked albums thread

I recommend Dettinger's two albums Intershop and
Oasis, especially the latter.
Really beautiful and minimalistic rhythmic electronic
music.

I don't know how overlooked these are, but I have never seen
Dettinger mentioned on XLT / WATMM / etc.

I completely overlooked Meshuggah had a new album out, n I'm
digging it

Yeah I found out about Dettinger's albums on Elektrolink.en

Intershop is the better of the two, among the most beautiful
ambient i have heard

I think I've mentioned Dettinger before, but then I'm not
that popular

Probably not that overlooked, but edIT - Crying over pros
for no reason is a good album.

GWAR - Scumdogs of the Universe

some of the funniest, catchiest metal you'll ever hear. it's
easily their best album.

I'm Not a Gun

An upbeat and joyful mix of electronics and instrumental /
post-rock that resembles Tortoise, Four Tet and Ulrich
Schnauss.

Really? I think its kind of subpar/bland as opposed to the
whole current scene. Its like you can listen to 50 hardcore
albums and about 4 will stand out. Othertimes bands that
used to be good go downhill

example: i used to dig everytime i die after seeing them do
Hellfest. The new album blows.

Check:

Cave In
Clubber Lang
The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza
and obviously the new Lamb of God and if you can get your
hands on the new DVD i would advise that aswell

Hmmm, I think there was a lot of hype (for an electronic
artist at least) when Pole first signed to Matador, from
magazines like NME, Select, Jockey Slut etc, but I suppose
he is largely forgotten now.

I love Meshuggah, and Catch 33 is great. I despise the bands
on your list with all my juices, but different strokes eh :D

Actually i dont think i heard catch33 but if you like
ardcore then check LAZY_TITLE They have alot of stuff
including videos (rare)

You dont like lamb of god? thats crazy talk! I'd half want
to buy you the new DVD if you havent seen it. awesome behind
the scenes. D randell blyth getting knocked out by i forgot
who amongst other things.

I guess what turned me on to ETID was the utter anarchy that
erputed when only the drummer was on stage and everyone
tried to run across the crowd stomping on heads with
steeltoes. Even the girls got in on the action.

Virginpusher, which Meshuggah albums have you heard? If you
heard Chaosphere and you think they're subpar, there is
surely something wrong with you. heh. But that Catch 33 is
total crap imho. They really have to reinvent their style,
because it's getting quite boring. Addition of clean parts
with pretentious lyrics can't be called improvement.

Jarworski, have you heard the band Kobong?

Panda: can't stomach what I've heard of Lamb of God... if
you got a song recommendation I'll check it. Ta for the
torrent link too. Meshuggah's Shed vid is here
btw ... go on :)

QRDL: I like catch cause I think it is a bit different.
Nothing was dull to me - not much texture or variety. I'm
listening to Shed again now I fuckin loves it. Never heard
of Kobong... I'll look around. I'm just playing non-stop
Meshuggah, Death and Nile atm

Pole is definitely underrated. The first three lp's were
fantastic, especially 3.

The only reason he is "forgotten" is because it is about 3
years since he released anything, and isn't hyped to shit.

Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase

offline QRDL from Poland on 2005-10-21 16:44 [#01757062]
Points: 2838 Status: Lurker

No! Fuck, I had no idea Plaid was in Wroclaw. I was thinking
about going to see Angels of Light, but it was a little too
expensive (40zl). My friends said it was surprisingly
good, considering their last lame effort (just my opinion).
But they generally like Swans and stuff so I don't know if
their opinion was unbiased.
Anyway, Robotobibok's concert was excellent, I regained
faith in the band. I've never seen Emiter live and actually
heard only one album. Potty Umbrella feature two people from
Something Like Elvis and I really don't know if I'm not too
old for this kind of music. But there's a possibility of
high number of decadent chicks tomorrow, whom I won't have
courage to chat with.
If you reached your money limit, tough luck, because we'll
also have Brotzmann and Vandermark this month. C'mon, borrow
some cash!!! Following months won't be this good. It's
Wroclaw's phenomenon

Kammerflimmer Kollektif, fuck yeah, i just discoverd their
latest album - would be great to see them too...well, i
don't complain , i've seen a few of my must-see artists this
year.

oh, and Plaid dj'd in Katowice :) in klub elektro, nice
place. supported by c.h. district. Plaid watched him and
were listening to him - and took his cd with them, as you
probably know.

all of the above must not be overlooked !

Totally definitely. Maybe my favorite album of the 80s.

Pretty much everything is overlooked but I always wondered
why Eyeless in Gaza- Pale Hands I Love So Well didn't seed a
bigger cult and why David Ackles isn't considered one of the
best singer/songwriters ever.

Tipper's album "Surrounded" released on Myutopia and
Landau's "Thepicompromise" on Merck are both overlooked
albums. They're both sort of similar to each other and have
a "dark" mood (especially the Tipper album) that's hard to
describe.
