I made a thread about this in a galaxy far far away but the
google searcher can't find it. so here's a new one.

i think Boingo is one of the most underrated bands of the
80s. Up until about 86 or 87 they were writing some very
quality material. I was listening to Only A Lad last night
and I just realized that I LOVE every song on that album.
And that's a rarity for me, even with Primus or RDJ.

So, any Boingo fans here? Favorite album, song, member
(besides Elfman)?

ALBUM: Farewell or Boingo Alive!
SONG: Wild Sex (In the Working Class) - Boingo Alive or
Farewell version
MEMBER: Sluggo, sucka!!!!!!

One of my favorite bands EVER!!!..

I love all thier stuff..... If you get a chance, be sure to
check out Elfmans solo album SO-LO
Its wonderful.

Good Call.

my Fav album would have to be BOINGO ALIVE. It captures the
band at thier best. But I am a fan of all the studio albums
too.

=)

Is it the same style as Elfman's music?

If you are referring to Elfmans movie scores, NO, Oingo is
nothing like it.

Elfman is GOD though..

the man with the orange hair, with the pistols, is elfman.

no, boingo is nothing like his film scores, but you may hear
certain elements within the music. for instance, boingo uses
a lot of percussive instruments, including something they
invented called a rhumbaphone. you sometimes hear vibes and
other instruments like this in his film scores i guess.

i recommend either skeletons in the closet or only a lad for
a first listen.

and yes, i have SO-LO. and it's quite nice. the video for
gratitude is easily boingo's best next to little girls.

Plastic tubes and pots and pans
Bits and pieces and
Magic from the hand
We’re makin’

(weird science)
Things I’ve never seen before
Behind bolted doors
Talent and imagination

(weird science)
Not what teacher said to do
Makin’ dreams come true
Living tissue, warm flesh

(weird science)
Plastic tubes and pots and pans
Bits and pieces (and)
Bits and pieces (and)

(bits of) my creation--is it real?
It’s my creation--i do not know
No hesitation--no heart of gold
Just flesh and blood--i do not know

From my heart and from my hand
Why don’t people understand
My intentions . . . . oooh, weird . . . .
Weird science!!

(weird science)
Magic and technology
Voodoo dolls and chants
Electricity
We’re makin’

(weird science)
Fantasy and microchips
Shooting from the hip
Something different
We’re makin’

(weird science)
Pictures from a magazine
Diagrams and charts
Mending broken hearts (and makin’)

(weird science)
Something like a recipe
Bits and pieces . . . .
Bits and pieces . . .

Watching "weird science" on TV was such a culmination of
epiphanies

the odd thing is that they didn't even touch that song on
either Alive or Farewell. they claim they hate that one,
danny elfman himself said that "it was either keep my
integrity or feed my band this year, and i chose the
latter." guess you can't blame him.
