Plastikman

I love his old stuff. His site, is a great way to preview
the music. Hear full length albums in streaming and such.
Really looking forward to more stuff like consumed without
lyrics :)

i think his new mix cd DE9: transitions is out at the end of
this month... should be good, i've had the chance to catch
him twice in the last few months and both sets were out of
this world.

as for actual new plastikman .. i'm not sure.

is hawtin a part of some scene or is he more of a loner?

i'd prefer him as a loner..

I think its the minimal techno scene. Artists like mike ink
and thomas brinkmann, and labels like kompakt records.

why the shit does he have to be playing here on Thursday
when i will either be at a soccer practice, or going to the
Damo Suzuki show?!?!?!?!?!?!

what sort of music is damo doing these days? old krautrock
style :) or something completly different? perhaps gothic
soul?

quite a minimal scene :) but yeah, brinkmann is definitely
up there with hawtin, love them both. i think i only have
one release by mike ink - the one that came out on warp i
think.

freakin hell..im listening to consumed after a while..love
it, absolutely love it!
i didn't like him that much live (only saw him once,
although he seem to play around here quite often), but stuff
he does under plastikman moniker is pure brilliance.

Have you heard soul dessert by mike ink? Its on his space
marines LP. Beautifull and spacious, a strong companion to
anything on consumed.

funny you should ask, because i really don't know.
he basically goes from town to town and plays with local
musicians. so in Edmonton he was slated to play with a
friend of mine (who probably did tonal noise with a ring
modulator a few pedals and a guitar), some dude who plays in
this folky band, a drummer from this old school improv
ensemble, and a few other players i can't remember
offhand... basically they show up and maybe Damo gives them
a few instructions maybe not... i have no idea to what
extent the nature of the lineup changes from city to city...
i know that originally there was a hip hop DJ slated to
perform with him here as well so i would imagine the results
are pretty diverse.

maybe this is a dumb question... but are you aware of
this?
it's run by a dude from your neck of the woods... and it's
possible that Los Glissandinos is playing over there soon...
or maybe berlin... i can't read slovenian... :P

and apologies to Richie for the persistent thread derailings
on my part... keep on rockin' the post-hair, sir.

would get along real well :)

you'd like it.

it's on every tuesday at 9pm central european time:
link

btw, i didn't know about the label thing. any good? :D

I'm sure thats ok. I went to thank him after the show he did
here the other day, and he was a total jerk. Good show tho.

yeah i sort of know Luka, actually. seems like a pretty nice
guy. some of the stuff on his label is really quite good.

must check it out. how do you know him? he's quite an odd
fellow but know a LOT about music, so that makes him
excellent in my eyes :)

i basically know him through slsk and another
messageboard... a lot of the people in that end of music are
pretty accessible (in terms of talking to them and such)
because they rely on the internet and word of mouth to sell
their CDs and CD-Rs...

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2005-10-24 09:56 [#01759340]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

yeah, as far as i know he only talks about music in real
life as well. he definitely knows his stuff. not to mention
his reviews of gigs (his review of spiritual's unity gig was
probably the best review i've heard in my life). if only
music he's into would be a bit more accesible :)

if you can, you should ask him about Alfredo Costa Monteiro,
the worlds weirdest accordion player... see if he can play
some for you :)

i might ask him for some of that stuff, yeah.
we have quite an excellent accordion player as well btw,
perhaps you've hear of him - bratko bibic?
