Holy shit does this polymath genius monster know how to do
sound design or what. He gets the best biggest baddest low
end sounds ever.

I was so impressed I went back and tried the Operator synth
which he programmed for Ableton and uses himself. Wow it's
not just "another FM synth" which is what I thought at
first. Just the default bass drum patches are super
impressive - teh bigness.

Probably some of you have already seen this video where
he talks some shit and demonstrates Operator.

the presets don't sound so hot to me so far... i wish i
could fast forward, but actually, i'm pleasantly surprised
that i can play a real file at all.

the aliasing feature is awesome, though...

The presets are very basic. Since the synth is fairly easy
to program it doesn't come with the usual assload of
evolving pads and single key grooves. The sound quality is
huge though, and yeah I love the feature where you set how
much aliasing you want.

He used it all over the last Monolake album, Polygon Cities.
I can hear the big phatty phat ass bass on that CD.

They don't really demonstrate the bass sound in that vid and
even if they did it'd sound shit - the audio is being
recorded through a video camera, compressed in real media
and played through whatever tiny shitty speakers most of you
gaylords have attached to your computers.
