I prefer the recent live soundboard sets over either Draft
or Untilted. Warp should seriously consider releasing at
least one of these sets - I can start the Glasgow set
playing, and an hour passes by in a flash. It's like, a
non-stop hypnotic revolving evolving beat smorgasboard.. I
sorely regret not seeing this show in person - they've come
a long way from 40 minute epic versions of Crystel, which is
what they were doing last time I saw them live, in 1993 or
thereabouts.

ep7 is my favourite album overall, even though it is classed
as an (hour long) single. Their production might have
gotten more slick since then, but I just love the atmosphere
of this record.

You probably know more of what you're talking about than me,
but Draft doesn't sound very compressed; I thought it was
more dynamic and had more depth than Untilted. Something
about it though, it sounds much better when played over
speakers; headphones it just sounds contained and a bit more
flat.

It's actually two 30 minute EP's. Go back to school,
hooker.

here's a little analogy for you all

draft : hip-hop
untilted : dance

hip-hop > dance

qed.

dont you think there is some hip hop in untilted too?

it is..it's just faster os it seems it's confusing some
people.

I find this too. Draft is a really fun listen on speakers,
but it sounds very flat and "mono-ey" on headphones compared
to a lot of other stuff.

same thing for untilted, it sounds much better on speakers
than on headphones !!

i couldn't get into any of those really. i guess cause it'
not my type of music anymore. or maybe not enough melodies.
ep7 forever for me.

I find it a bit tinny unless there's a sub or it's on good
speakers.

Yeah, that too. I had it on my walkman and it just had no
impact; felt very bleepy and flat. I get that with my tracks
too, though (the more minimal beat-driven ones)...I'll be
blasting them through the monitors, and it's all sounding
good. Then you put headphones on and you're like, "eh? Is
that it?"

It's strange, most people think the opposite-that Ae is more
suited to headphones.

a lot more happens on draft

untilted (which is a great one) could do better as a short
versions album + extended versions follow-up album/ep - just
like the whole quaristice-quaristive-q-listener-friendly set
of releases seems to have been thought of

i like the sounds and songs of draft, but i do enjoy the
futurism of untilted (personal opinion)

i think they went off the boil after draft. grantz graf was
their pinnacle for me. the untilted tracks lack the flow of
the previous releases imo.

Untilted is better than Draft and both are better than
Quaristice
