Has anyone got this music/puzzle game on their PSP?
It puts you in a trance. Great catchy music, brilliant concept, beautiful presentation and very, very addictive.
I also loved Rez on the PS2, another game made by the same people behind this one.
If you have a PSP, I recommend it.

I have it. Just started playing it last night after a break, actually. I really like the first track, "shinin". I can't seem to get past the 10th level on challenge mode, though.

It has also a LFO's track called "Flu-shot". You can find them both in the AFX-LFO Split anyway.

Yeah. I find it depressing that one of the few tracks I selected NOT to be played during the course of the game was by my favorite artist out of the whole lot!

yeah i played my friend's copy - it has some nice music, but i didn't know that the people behind Rez designed it! no wonder i like it!
i enjoyed Rez, and its a shame that it was discontinued due to people having seizures from playing it - it was beautiful to look at, and the boss battles were fantastic. really a great shooter, and a brilliant concept.
my favorite track/sound palette in Lumines so far have been in the VS CPU modes. I like the Samurai music, and the music that plays when you battle the stack of records (the one that says "Lumines"). I managed to beat that mouse thing where your blocks are cheese, but i got my ass handed to me by that gypsy thing.
an excellent game - it makes me want a PSP so bad, because i could hand my friend's asses to them from the comfort of my home.

Ah, I'd heard the Rez team were doing a PSP game, I didn't realise this was it! Not played it yet, but it looks interesting.
I'd heard rumours of a remake of Rez on the PSP, I'd love that.

Ah, that's interesting; I never knew it was discontinued because people were having seizures. I thought it just didn't sell very well! But you're right, it's an increadable game-I lost many hours being entranced in it, playing the same levels over and over again. I'd love a sequel.
Please release a PSP version, Sony.

There was a 5.1 arcade machine of it in the works too, but it was canned on the grounds that it lacked the mainstream appeal of most modern arcade games: you'll notice in modern arcades, most games are gimmicks/novelties like DDR, ride on bike/jet bike/quad games, light gun ones, etc. nothing like space harrier (which Rez is probably nearest to in terms of gameplay)

That's such I shame :-(
I would have loved a 5.1 experience of Rez.
How well is Lumines selling? I hope it's doing better then Rez did, because it's about time games like this got some recognition.

funny, because i remember it having a WARNING even, before the game and on the package AND in the manual about it causing seizures. But apparently, something about the lights and sounds combined really did bad things to some people. I had heard upon buying my copy (when learning it was discontinued) that it was selling on E-Bay for awhile for about 80 bucks!!!!
There was a lot to unlock in that game, and there's plenty to unlock in Lumines as well. I love games like this, that demand your attention.
The guy behind Rez and Space Channel 5 (i forget his name) left Sega shortly following Rez and started his own development company. Dunno why he left, but i bet it had something to do with the Sammy/Sega merger that was en route. (They aren't merged now but Sammy owns a majority share in Sega.)
Is this from him and his crew? I'm guessing it is, because its published by Ubisoft rather than Sega.

Heheh, exactly. There were plenty of warnings surrounding Rez, and there's lots of other games that are just as flashy. It's ridiculous.
What's your favorite bit of the game? Rez marked, for me, a return to the feelings I used to get from games when I was really young-that sort of wide-eyed wonder and amazement at exploring a new world. In fact, I hadn't played anything for months until it came out.
The bit in level 5 where you meet that strange angelic being, all the way to the end, is really magical, along with the "running boss" in level 4 with that strange vocoded rock/dance music. There are loads of great bits, but those two stand out in my memory.

I like this game. The opening song is cheesy but good... Enough to keep the attention.
Would have really liked a shuffle option.
