I've just managed to pick up this LP, and I really like it. Does anybody else have this album? What do you think of it? Also, how many copies were made, and is this album genuinely rare?

I really enjoyed it...It reminds me of summertime and always puts a smile on my face...I always thought of it as one of Richards "nicer" sides....

Whitehead, you'll never get the original as this album was never commercially released. There are details on the FAQ discography. If you do manage to pick up the original, you could probably make some serious money out of it.

Yeah, Iron, it is a happy album. It's a lot like RDJ, without the fucked up drums in the background. But I think it's true that most of his stuff isn't as relaxed as this. Druqks, for instance, isn't at all, and neither is anything he's released on Rephlex or on R & S. That stuff is hard, but it's pretty unnerving.
Anyway, do you prefer this more unnerving stuff, or the gentler music on records such as SAW I / II, RDJ Album and ICBYD?

I am really fascinated by the "gentler" side or RDJ than I am the more "harsh and violent"....perhaps that is not the right way to describe it.....

I think tracks 4 & 11 are brilliant. I really love MfM. It's a pity it's not got an offical release (apart from the fact that I dont have a CD burner and I'd love to listen to it away from my computer) cause I guess most of the people downloading it already know it exist's and not people just stumpling on Richards great work and saying 'Hey this is great! I think I'll check out more of this Aphex Twin..." Or so the story goes :-)

Actually I'm pretty sure it was released as a CASETTE and not an LP. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you're pulling our leg Krendo.

Yeah, Iron, ICBYD is good. I used to adore Ventolin when the album was first released, and Icct Hedral as well. They both just sound so disturbed. I always thought song 3, Wax The Nip, was the worst track, and Cow Cud Is A Twin is also quite annoying. But the best track is Wet Tip Hen Ax, although it's the worst name!

I believe it was sent out to a videogame company as a casette... basically meaning one original copy exists. However it might have been sent out to multiple game companies meaning there might be a few out there.

Whitehead, you seem to like his singles more than his albums. I agree that Polygon Window is a brilliant album, but I think a lot of the Caustic Window and AFX stuff is pretty average at best. I almost never listen to Analogue Bubblebaths 3 & 4. The Girl / Boy EP is good. I really like the £18 Snare Rush Mix, and the song Beetles as well.
But I've never been able to work out what is being said at the start of Milkman, before the song starts.

me neither... I like the caustic window compilation a lot, and analogue bubblebath 3 is also very cool... Don't know why i like them, must be because of the 'old skool' vibe of it all
When i bought them a little while back, i remembered the songs from when i first went out, they were played once in a while then, and i instantly liked them all...

Yeah, aperson, the album was supposed to become the soundtrack to a computer game, although I've no idea which one. But, according to the Warp Discography (now situated on the FAQ website, I think), the cassette was given to a number of Warp and Rephlex employees, as well as to some of James's friends. I don't know how true this is, or how the Discography has this information. But I think the reason it is so easily available is because it was distributed quite widely - for an Aphex album at least :)

But aphex softer side is also my favourite... like the song vaz deverenz... it's fantastic! Actually all his softer work is my favourite, maybe that's why i also like Plaid so much...

AB4 is almost not worth buying for the first track alone. 'The Elephant Song' is so awful it hurts. If you ever listen to it you'll see what I mean.
