I like pan pipe music, because it makes me feel uplifted
and the pan pipe is a beautiful instrument. I want to learn
how to play them.

I really enjoy it too. My family is half latino and so my
mum is always listening to Andean pan pipe music around the
house, it's so calm and serene - I love it.

My family own a pan pipe and it's pretty easy to 'jam' on,
though getting single notes out is quite hard-you often find
yourself blowing into 2 pipes at the same time. Still I
guess it's all technique. Good Luck with that.

the sound of a pan pipe being played makes me retch.

Making threads is easy. Sit back, think "What am I thinking
about?" and then whatever pops up, use that as your
topic. In no time at all, people will come running into
your thread telling you their experiences related to
your subject.

If you're having trouble finding out exactly what it is
that's going on in your brain now, here are some starter
topics you can use:

The sound of church organs / jews harp / comb and paper /
yazoo / the recorder / random instrument
Washing up.
I like New Age music.
Funny thing that happened to me today...
Recommend me emotional music
Boctober Fest
I'm leaving XLT

I would amend "Recommend me emotional music" to a simple
"Recommend me".

You're quite right, in fact the more ambiguous the Topic
title the better "I just...." "Have you ever...", "You know
when you..."

And of course, I meant Kazoo, not synth duo Yazoo.

It's just that I rate "Recommend me emotional music" as the
nadir of all topic titles. I can't let it go.

aren't most pan-pipe moods albums actually
pan-pipe-preset-on-a-synth?

yes! never finish the thread title but forcefully end it on
"..."

this will make it look kind of mysterious.. "[SPAM]
Listen to my new...
I wonder what that's all about."

I've got a set of pan pipes. I can play it well enough to
sample single notes, but playing anything recognisable is
beyond my abilities. I dislike the composition common to a
lot of pan pipe music, but using it as an instrument in a
track is okay by me.

to me, 99 times out of 100 pan pipes and shakuhachi just
sounds cheesy and lame. i didn't want to rain on the pan
pipe parade, but ugh.

Fun pan pipes tip: You should store them upside down to
allow any collected spittle to drain out.

have you listened to some of the tracks on the cd CS2x has
linked to?

it's just plain painful.

Well, yeah, that particular album is awful (though fairly
amusing, imho) and most pan pipe music is cack, but I think
they have potential.

Aside from being crap, they illustrates why the pan pipes
are such limited instruments with a tiny range and that it
takes so long to change notes that unless there's a troupe
of players, it sounds like a one fingered man with cerebral
palsy playing a monosynth.

someone else here loves New Age music? brilliant, I must
keep my eye out next time one of those threads comes along.

as the collected spittle drained out
and rained onto the pan pipe parade;
the one fingered man revealed his monosynth
and serenaded the pan pipe brigade.
