i thought i'd start a quote a day on the mb....to inspire
people...etc..ehehe hope ya'll like it!! =0)

Until it is kindled by a spirit as flamingly alive as the
one which gave
it birth a book is dead to us. Words divested of their magic
are but dead
hieroglyphs. -Henry Miller, novelist (1891-1980)

smile to my face :

"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man
affected us as kids,we'd all be running around in darkened
rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive
electronic music."
-Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989

What an excellent idea...Good one...

I remember reading Tropic Of Cancer, Sexus & Tropic of
Capricorn when I was teenager and was just blown away at the
strength of his writing...I recall reading it on the train
and hoping that no-one knew who HM was and what his writing
was like...pretty strong stuff...

"It's the actions of men and not their intentions that make
History"...Norman Mailer (another great great american
writer...)...

heheh sounds like ME too. i have to be up at 8am.....eeep!

The movie was OK....aaliyah was so beautiful in it, but she
wasn't in it much. so i dunno if i'd recommend it to highly.
it seemed all style no substance if that makes sense!

thanks.....oh i know what you mean about miller...he's umm
rather descriptive....anais nin too. ehhehe
have you seen the movie henry and june? if not you should,
it's very interesting and filmed in SPAIN i believe =]

gets here.

yes it's the same person. she filmed this movie before. it's
such a small role, they should have used her a lot more.
such a shame. she was so talented, beautiful! the movie was
dedicated to her, which was great. but again it's not too
too good. and i LIKE vampire movies. ehhehe

"he's umm
rather descriptive...."... lol..yep, you could say that...

Haven't seen that Movie but it's on my list...I totally dug
into that European/American Bohemian vibe and discovered so
many great writers that way. I got to Miller via NINs
diaries....loads of stuff that never gets a mention unless
you go to study at Uni or something (My major regret in life
so far is not staying at school beyond 16...kinda had to
educate myself)...

I've got my eye on BEAT at the video shop...the story of
Burroughs & Kerouac & the beat writers...(with Courtney Love
as Joan Burroughs...should be fun when she gets shot..;) ...
Got a day off today so might get that and H&J and have a bit
of a LIT fuelled day...

IS this the Anne Rice film?..Queen of the Damned...

I loved the whole decadent vibe of Interview but sequals are
never as good...a pity as Rice can write so well...

yes it's Queen of the Damned. funny thing is (and i'm not a
tom cruise fan) but i can't picture anyone else as Lestat,
this guy was such a poseur! uuuggh

i was hoping it'd be scary .....NOT....or campy enought to
be funny.....NOT. i mean it was entertaining they way a good
TV show would be, but i dunno they shoulda had Rice write
the script.

NIN is fantastic, and it's cool thats how you were
introduced to Miller. He's a fantastic writer, his essays
are amazing too. a lot of his books w/essays are out of
print here, i have to search old bookstores for them. but
it's well worth it to find a good book. The beat writers
were good as well...i look forward to the seeing Love get
shot.....ooops did i say that outloud..???..ehehhe

The "all your base" quote is from a video game that was in
japanese then translated (poorly) into english.

That is quite impressive pachi.

There is some graphiti by the train tracks I see on my ride
into school everyday. "all your train are belong to us"
unfortunatly some dumbass didn't get the joke and decided to
correct the grammer and crossed out the word 'are' and added
an 's' to train. Once it gets warmer I'm going to change it
back.
