What a great track....Anyone else like this song?...

A real trippy tune. I remember the first time I heard this
song, I was completely fried out on 3 doses of acid and fell
in love instantly....

Even now, almost 9 years later, I still like this song
alot.
Just thought I would share that with everyone. Check it out
if you get a chance.

CHEERS!

I would choose "ramshackle", A Different Beck Song.

it's excellent.

I love this track. If you're into this one, you might also
like "Runners Dial Zero".

Yeah, that is one of my favorite mellow gold tracks. The
lyrics are quite profoundly surrealistically depressing. So
is the tempo and general feel. I have all of becks cds
except maybe the very last one, even the loser single. Beck
often combines humor either with depression or hate/anger
pretty much always in bizarre surrealistic ways. I think my
favorite track is 'soul suckin jerk', both versions (one's
on the loser single). But I like the mellow gold version a
little better.
Since mutations, it seems like pretty much all the
anger/hate is taken out (still has depression) but a lot of
the melody is just excellent... my favorite on mutations is
the 2nd to last one (starts with "a town of this respect")

I also love that song that goes "you came you went, my mind
it got a dent"... humorously depressing like usual. Also
that one "and the kids drinkin in the park... late at night
and the spirit moves me and I don't mind being afraid... old
man with no clothes... leaning on my fence..."

loser is still my favorite beck track. As uninventive as
that may sound

Beck is one of my favourite artists. : )

this song was never one of my favourites of his though...
from Mellow Gold, my favourites are Loser, Pay No Mind,
Whiskeyclone Hotel City 1997 and Beercan. i very much agree
with w M w about the depression/humor thing - that's one of
the things that make love Mellow Gold...

Sing it again?

Anyway, Steal My Body Home is one of my favorite tracks of
his. It's got such a perfectly absurd feel.

yip one foot in the grave is by far the best thing he's ever
done. i'd be hard pressed to think of someone less inspired
now tho. from odelay on it's just been one long bit of
choreographed "so square i'm hip" tongue in cheek wank.

Midnight Vultures is butt crap, but just about everything
else by Beck is great.

I hated mutations when I first got it but now I love it.
Also it's a shame that rdj remixed beck's practically worst
song, devil's haircut.

sea change I think has some of the best reviews on amazon.
He broke up with his girlfriend or something and all the
tracks are depressing. I havn't heard it yet.

Some of beck's stuff used to be quite evil but that element
left after he got rich.
an evil track is (sweet sunshine) "bucket full of blood, got
you on my mind, I'm gonna break my face on the sweet
sunshine...i want to get up off the floor, I want to run to
the devil and get me some more" There's like hornets buzzing
all around and chainsaws/lawnmowers.
ass kiss powergrudge is cool.

haha, yeah, i downloaded some mississippi john hurt and skip
james, and um, they are NO beck (who woulda thought) except
mississippi john hurt is one good guitar player (for the
blues) and u can hear beck trying to play like him except he
just doesnt get there (lol, compare becks stagolee and (a
newer version of) stagolee by hurt)

Dunno what people have against Vultures. I think it's an
awesome, funky direction for Beck that worked quite well!
Not stagnating is awesome!

Anyway, he's working on some new shit like one "small" album
(Mutations?) where it's just him and his guitar doing
everything. Can't wait for that!

Vultures was great. I listened to it nonstop when it came
out. I've liked pretty much everything he's done, including
mutations which nobody else seemed to like.

It's pretty hard to rank his albums really.

I think Mellow Gold is probably my favorite though, I guess.

well thats the thing, he has so many different styles (in
there own becky way). like almost anyone can get into beck
from something, and lots of beck fans can have a different
favourite album.
to be honest, i dont know what my favourite album is at the
moment! probaly mellow gold cos i still love his acoustic
stuff but mg's got the insanity as well

The early stuff is okay, but he didn't really hit his stride
until Odelay. Midnite Vultures is my favourite album. Sea
Change is shit, so is the new one.

Steal My Body Home is my favorite track off Mellow Gold. I
really like his use of that middle eastern sound, its kinda
like Within You Without You by The Beatles in a way. He also
uses that sound on Nobodys Fault But My Own off of
Mutations. I find that the sound suits the tone of
melancholy to these two tracks.
