rock music was good, but it is dying. everything does sound
the same and bands have this dirty,.. .dirty.. attitude.

I don't like rock much but I admire the punk scene (and by
that I mean real punk bands like Dead Kennedy's, Sex Pistols
and Bad Religion rather than shitty pop punk bands like
Bowling for Shit).

Punk is just so raw and angsty if it's performed right and
although the actual music isn't particularly great the
snarling often controversial vocals and pure
adrenaline/passion make it listenable to.

Punk is sorta part of the Rock genre, isn't it?

Slagging off genres is stupid. It's like people saying
electronica is shit after hearing Moby or The Crystal
Method.

"the 20th century is over"

Well, electonic music started in the fucking 1930's or
something, which actually predates rock. It's where you take
a genre that counts.

I don't listening to what comes out of their mouths.
Anything they have to say has already been said better by
some writer or philosopher, probably thousands of years ago.
Unless it's pop, in which case it just shouldn't be said
anywhere. Music is a different language.

Punk :

1. Can't dance to it
2. Every song sounds the same
3. some bands are nazi sympathisers
4. punk is so bad, not music, just bad vocals
5. the Sex Pistols are over

I find myself baffled as to why I enjoy this genre...maybe I
just like the idea of anarchy and bringing down the
government.

Metal sucks because it's immature shouting.

I actually agree with you Monoid. Perhaps you were joking,
but I really find most rock absolutely dull. There's only
two or three rock bands I like (and they incorperate lots of
electronic elements and other things into their sound
anyway.)

Folk, classical, even fucking garage but not rock, please.

claim number five doesnt stand, neither the fourth one. i
can dance to it, dance my brains and my ass and my balls
off...and there are as much diversities in it as there are
in any other music style/genre/type. youve got fucking nazis
among musicians of every other music genre, so the third
ones got bad legs too...the sounds, i guess i know what you
mean, but it aint bad, its just not their
intention/preference to make *nice* sounds, you know, and i
kinda respect that.

but youre right with the fifth one!!!! its 2005, wow, time
flies!

We're only 5 years into a new century which is abstract
anyway from the viscera of rock/pop so you can't really
expect it to just suddenly stop.
People like it and want to flog it some more even if it
is seeming to be original in ever decreasing
circles.
Jazz and classical weren't without their own critical
problems and there is still good stuff out there if you have
a mind for it.

Rock, rhythm and blues.. their novelty in the mass media may
have passed but these are traditions that simply go back to
the people who make them.

I meant that the lyrics were immature.

eg. Ashes to Ashes/ Dust to Dust/ Your head is thrust/ into
your toom/ so much gloom/I am hated by everyone/I wish I had
a gun/my girlfriend won't have sex with me/so I'll rock out!

my point exactly - i was just saying to the writer of this
thread that not all rock music is bad and you shouldn't
pidgeonhole a band as a "bad" band just because they are a
"rock" band.
