For crying out loud. I'm trying to be reasonable here, but really, I don't know what is bothering you so much. Getting predictions of AAC in A levels and having your parents shout at you a bit, along with a fair bit of work, isn't anything too bad and everybody doing studies is going through the same thing. |

I haven't read this whole thread, and it won't load the second page for some reason, but here goes; Most everybody gets really fucking depressed at one point or another, some more than others and some have more of a reason than others. I think focusing on the negative in your life rather than the positive causes much of it. I highly suggest befriending someone who is much, much worse off than you. Then when you are feeling bad about something in your life, you can think about this other person and it will probably make you feel shitty about focusing on your less serious problems. I don't want to sound like a dick or anything, but there are people who lack the courage to leave their house, people who are constantly cowering in fear of the world and everyone, people who are rotting away in a nursing home who never had much of a life to begin with, people who have never walked in their life and would kill to even ramble down the street, people unjustifiably sitting in a jail cells almost their whole lives or in insane asylums, people who are starving, etc. I could go on forever. I feel extremely depressed often, even to a point where it's debilitating, but I'm not trying to compare or anything. But when I start thinking so damn negatively I force myself to think of the worse-off people and feel ashamed that I let myself get into that mindset when I have more of a capability to be happy than most people. I mean, people can have some chemical imbalance or something, which is more understandable, but to rationalize that your existence is so shitty that there's no hope seems kind of stupid to me at least. If such thought is justifiable, than how can hope even exist? I don't want to sound like some haughty bastard, but I probably do. But you wouldn't want someone dying of cancer to come on here and talk about it? I mean, if they're dying then it's truly warranted.. But what are we going to say? 'There's hope man!"? There is no hope unless that person chooses to have hope. |

Sorry about that. I've read it all now after fixing my topic-per-page preferences on here. I kind of rambled on in annoyance mode mainly because one my best friends has been stuck in bed ill for months, and now I hear there's a good chance he might not make it. He has the best outlook on life of anyone I've met and he's been paralysed for 6 years or so. Without going into too much detail I just wanted to point out how I get into a similar 'hole' emotionally, and I always think of him and realise that there's much worse things that one could be down about. I guess I really should've ranted like this in all those monoid threads, but he seems unreceptive to any logical arguements. I'll shut up now. I don't want to seem like an ass, but that's probably too late. |
