This is how I would rank the three but this is not a
contest. I want it all!!! How do I go about finding all of
the singles and unreleased stuff??? I see that there is a
ton of stuff from James but where do I find it? And stuff
from sean and rob as well but where can I find and obtain
stuff that you cannot purchase? Theres got to be a way. I
hope to hear from someone.

warprecords store has all autechre releases/singles

cheap-cds has 70% of that too

ebay has rare ae/gescom stuff, as does soulseek

use soulseek for the super rare shit + live shows

fly to london to actually get to see them more than once
every 4 years :(

I believe Squarepusher is the best of the lot. I didn't used
to be so into him, but now I realise that technically,
emmotionally and in terms of sheer impact he beats the rest
imho.

i think autechre would be before the others on the list
because of the amazing variety from song to song, from cd to
cd. the mastery gone into making each sound so clean and
physical also puts them up there.

I want to thank you all for the advice and conversation I
hope that it helps. I'll be back to let you all know! As far
as squarepusher goes i can almost see your point he has it
but I think that R.D.J. is really untouchable. But I see it.
Maybe i'll agree with you in a couple more years. i remember
the first time I heard Squarepusher it was the worst thing
next to someone shiting in my breakfast cereal. it was that
bad! But things change! Who knows I may just strating eating
shit one morning!!

Yeah, they're good for a very different reason. I find
Squarepusher has a bigger emmotional impact, and he really
knows his music and how to play instruments well, but
Autechre have really interesting structures, sounds and
systems within tracks which sometimes really hit the mark
for me, but also can grate if I'm not in the mood.

the downside to all that superstructure is mega-boring songs
usually, which goes on and on for soooo long, but wait, it
does evolve, the hi-hat as changed pitch by 10micro-cents
and it gained 3dB at 10Khz :D
just joking i love 'em

Heh ;-)

That's why I don't always like their stuff. I do most of the
time, though. ;-P

if we are talking live shows, autechre pulls out laser guns
and missile launchers, swords and stealth bombers to destroy
the rest in 5 seconds while smoking metal cigarettes. i have
seen sqrpsher live and afx and really there is just no
comparison. the physics you get in ae shows is much more
interactive.

Oh yeah, live it's a completely different matter. Ae is
increadable.

I haven't seen Squarepusher yet. I'm hoping to see him at
the next gig.

Not too into Aphex these days.

man youve got to see sqrpusher next time hes touring or
playing at a party. did this thing the last show i saw him
at where his bass guitar is hooked up to his computer. the
effect is not very strong in my memory, but, he was
triggering stuff on his computer by plucking the strings. it
might've just been gate-activated but, the stuff he was
doing was awesome. sounded great.

ae though, what the fuck man, they like throw grenades at
the audience.

lol. Didn't they make a track where the beats changed at
such a rate that the human brain couldn't cope with.

As for which of the three is the best, I'd have to say
Square Pusher. Although he's the most inconsistant and has
some of the worst tracks out of the three, when he hit the
note his contributions to music are amazing. I mean I have
never been awed in such a way since I heard the egyptian
delights of Anstromm Feck 4.

i can undrstand that, but to me it gets boring really
quickly if i'm not in the mood, which is something and afx
show does to me generaly, it puts me in the mood really
quickly

et le pousseur de carrés ai jamais pu assister a un
live-show donc j'nen sais rien du tout, j'aimerais bien
d'ailleurs, must be well worth it !

**THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION BETWEEN AE AND AFX AND SQP**

they all do it for me in utterly different but amazing
ways...and i go through periods of listening to em all with
equal intensity. I got a founness for the pusher but really,
they're each materfull in their own unqiue way.
