boomkat
southern lord

The 5th official studio album and triumphant return of
Earth! With each album released EARTH progresses and
diversifies their sound, pushing all boundaries of
preconception. With "Hex", EARTH has created a intensely
powerful album that defies the normal restrictions of a
particular genre. The monolithic darkness of previous
releases such as "EARTH2" and "Pentastar (In the style of
Demons)" remains apparent yet is now channeled into a
different direction. This new direction is bold, determined
and as essential as anything they have ever done in the
past. Beautifully packaged with a 20 page booklet
painstakingly designed by Stephen O' Malley. --

i don't have this cd yet, but as a big earth fan,
i'll definitely be picking it up soon. these samples are so
different from what i expected! the samples are really
clean, minimal, ambient. not necessarily characteristics i
would associate with earth at all.

"dronecore / death metal scene"

who the hell wrote that? obviously not someone who's
actually heard death metal...

i have been extremely envious of the uk folks who got to see
the Don't Look Back series of atp concerts. some of my
favorite bands. that was the thread i made.

yeah earth are rowdy. they have this certain very unique
guitar tone.. i can't be much more than a certain kind of EQ
but it's so EARTH and i love it.. it feels like its inside
your head.. like the tone is the constant and they're
actually playing the silences instead of the notes

I have ordered this album - still waiting for it to arrive.
The Earth t-shirt on Southern Lord looks nice.

i was thinking of earth.

earth is one of my favorite names for a band ever, honestly.
i don't know why anyone wouldn't like it. if i'm not
mistaken, i think black sabbath was called earth at one
point too...

on the other hand, i like the album title, especially
because it fits in with their other album titles and it's
kind of their style, but i can see why someone wouldn't like
it as well...

this album is really, really awesome. does not disappoint.

it is really a departure from everything else earth has
done. i hope jarmusch sets his next surreal western to this
album. :)

find that material

earth sounds a bit like angelo badalamenti aswell, jitterbug
guitars with slow drumming, i prefer the other ones to this

i love it, although it sounds a bit more cinematic to their
other releases.

btw, i wanted to write a review on this but editor said not
many people would vote for it in the album of the year
competition so we decided to go with something else and
we'll do a review on this next year instead..people have no
fcuking taste.

Apperently Dylan Carlson is a total junkie, and that's why
the new material isn't as good as the early 90's stuff.

I know this is from a record company website or something
but like

"pushing all boundaries of preconception."

why would pushing a boundary of preconception be
attractive?

perception. PERCEPTION. :(
