the fidelity is too good to be real 8-bit :P

offline Oddioblender from Fort Worth, TX (United States) on 2005-09-21 18:37 [#01729839]

Most of the sound were generated with NCH Tone Generator, so
they were in 44Khz when generated. There were also a few
drums that were not 8-bit drum sounds, particular the jungle
sounding ones near the middle.

I don't know why i even bother with sound quality - some
people bitch that it's not good enough, others bitch because
it's too clean. this is why i only write tracks in mono.

i only say that in jest at it being '8bit' really though i
agree in that i'm more interested how it sounds rather than
shitty boring techie production wankery.

listening. btw, don't you have some tunes up somewhere?

the percussion in the middle sounds really

um

i dunno like smashed together?

almost like the beats are trying to get through a door at
the same time three stooges style

i liked the melodies though

This is very enjoyable. The percussion sounds at the very
beginning were the best part actually. They were cool sounds
an somewhat hypnotic because of their 8bit blasts followed
by gaps of silence. When everything came in together it was
kind of messy but fairly interesting. Still this caused the
silent gaps to be gone which was the best part. The melody
was quite weird, not very melodyish but just seeming messy
and almost random but still not sounding terrible.

w M w - yes the organization could be cleaner. i might
rearrange it later. you liked the quiet parts? hmmm....

nigel - your money is in the mail, sucka!

actually, i constructed two really intense drum sequences
(i.e. drill arrangements) for this song, and one of them
actually sounds quite sloppy and is a bit bass heavy. i
might try ditching it and keeping the order of the song as
is.

offline Seracelsus on 2005-09-21 22:26 [#01729948]

cool, nice syncopations and good drum programming in that
full section. i think when you have those chords with the
silences in between, a bassline might anchor it down really
well. cool track!

yes i could use another bassline and maybe a few less
sweeping kicks in some areas. thanks i'll keep that in mind.
thanks for listening. btw. :)

good track.

This is quite the genre, 8bit.
I'm gonna make a playlist of Oddio and roygbivcore one of
these days and play some NES roms.

it's good, obviously it's not straight 8-bit but it's good
to have some decent quality sounds too, so that the spectrum
is not full of awful harmonics.
the track is well constructed (meaning ?).

just to precise, a sound file can be in 44kH & 8 bit

Hahaha... it's been too long since I've heard bleepy
goodness. This is fun. The beats are sweetness, although I
can't really get into the chordal melody, just doesn't fit
right

The bass drum coming in is golden, sounds really good with
the rest of the drums. Production is getting really good

melodies are too, it reminds me of Mega Man and made the
hair stand up on the back of my neck.
