i never really wanted one of these (or a ds) until
yesterday, when i found out you can put emulators on em.
anyone have one, put emulators on em, or anything?
can you put like PS1 or PS2 emulators as well?

through firmware updates, emulation on the PSP will prove
more and more problematic... also, PS1/2 emulation on a PSP
is pretty fucking farfetched, man. first of all, the PSP
doesn't have the juice to emulate something like that.
secondly, ps1/2 games take up WAY too much space to make it
work anyway.

though/ : )

I believe the DS as it stands can run emulators, using a DS
compatible flash card (IE a GBA/SP one that physically fits
in it) with what is effectively a nes emulator for the GBA
on it (I use this on my GBA, I think it's called
pocketnes).

When I say near perfect, I mean things like the sound isn't
quite 100% (never is in emulation), the odd game might not
run, etc.

CPU-ability wise? Yes, there's a snes emulator for the GP32
which is nowhere near as powerful as the PSP. I don't know
if one has been made for the PSP yet though...

I think a 512 stick is $100 USD.

Oh, and a friend of mine managed to get Genesis and SNES
emulators working on his. Not sure how good they were,
didn't get a chance to play 'em.

hmm, if it works fine (or even fineish, just not slow) thatd
be awesome.
does the psp even have a harddrive?

I don't think so. If it has any internal storage, it's
probably very small.

I personally don't own one.

It doesn't have a hard drive. You can get a 1GB memory
stick for like 75 bucks on dealram. Make sure you don't
update to system software version 2.0 on the PSP or the
emulators out there won't run.

I played computer games solidly for about four of five hours
a day until I was 13, then suddenly: no interest whatsoever.
