Do you rememver when Skint and Wall of Sound were the hippest labels going, and every other record had a funky drummer loop on it? It turned shit eventually but it was fun to start with. I was gutted because I was too young to go to any of the club nights.

big beat died the day after Dig Your Own Hole got released. then a puppeteer attached some strings to it's arms and tried to keep the show going...it smelled pretty bad

I'd say it was a good laugh up until Fatboy Slim got big. (About Summer '99)

Dig Your Own Hole was possibly the only truly great thing to come out of the whole shebang (what the hell happened to the Chems after that?). Fatboy had his moments too, namely Acid 8000. Bentley Rhythm Ace did it right too.

There were shitloads of good records on Skint and WOS. I just can't remember the names of any of them! People just sampled any old cobblers and stuck a drumloop on top. Which was sometimes awesome and sometimes shit.

i thought "come with us" was a pretty tight integration of what made big beat cool (uh.. ) and other cool sounds. if you haven't given the album a listen through on a good system you've missed out. i didn't really care for "push the button", this recent album, much. come with us was full of brilliant transitions and creativity while maintaining near perfect dance cliches.
