The rules: Today I supply the link and the track. we
discuss it. At the end of the thread i pass the torch on to
someone else. Runtime = 1 week.

The next creator of the next [-IDM] track must copy and
paste this initial post.

What kind of music can i post? I dont care. As long
as we dont normally listen to it here. Ambient to death
metal to Zootsuit shit. A-Z you mofo's!

If you feel so inclined.... posts pics, lyrics,
links.

Dont be a shit. I'll seriously sell my DVD player
and give Qrter or someone the cash to B7 that ass if you are
a dipshit. AKA NO OTHER LINKS TO SONGS AND NO EXTRA BAND
DISCUSSION unless you are cool about it. (reg XLT rules....
normals should know what ima talkin about)

ON WITH THE THREAD!!!

"coming down" by Crowbar.

CROWBAR BIO
1989.That's 15 long years ago. Countless memories.
Some still vivid, most just a blur. The one constant thing
has been my focus and desire. The same vision i had in '89
is still burning strong in my head.

Fueled by the down-tuned sludge of the MELVINS,
and the over-the-top aggression of Peter Steele's CARNIVORE,
i set out to create my own beast and CROWBAR was born.

The band's sound was labeled DOOM-CORE by the
European press shortly after the 1992 debut release
OBEDIENCE THRU SUFFERING. I found it to be quite fitting
then, and still do honestly.
CROWBAR have released 7 full length cd's, the 2nd
selling over 100,000 copies worldwide. We threw in a live EP
and a few best of compilations for good measure and are now
ready to unleash LIFES BLOOD FOR THE DOWNTRODDEN in early
2005.

Anyone who knows CROWBAR is familiar with the numerous label
and lineup changes over the years. We feel very fortunate to
have found a home at CANDLELIGHT and a solid new lineup for
this rebirth of sorts.

I wisely recruited Rex Brown( PANTERA, DOWN),
Craig Nunenmacher (BLS, CROWBAR) and Warren RIKER( DOWN II )
for the recording and producing of this monster, and I'm
happy to say I'm very pleased with the outcome. These 11
tracks show an equally dangerous, more mature CROWBAR. 1
part aggression, 1 part melodic, all parts HEAVY !! This is
a natural growth for a band that didn't know the fret board
went above 5 frets back in '89.A natural growth in my
songwriting and vocal style. A step forward - period.

After a 2 and 1/2 year hiatus while i recorded and
toured with DOWN, CROWBAR hit the stage for the first time
on 24 of June, 2004 in the Netherlands. This was the first
show since October 2001.

The new lineup of myself ( voc. guit. ), Steve Gibb
( guit. ), Tommy Buckley ( drums ), and Pat Bruders ( bass )
proved to be crushing from the first few chords. Our 2 week
European tour was a big success with the highlight being a
storming set at the WITH FULL FORCE fest in Liepzig,
Germany.

With the release of the new CD fast approaching,
we're ready to hit the road and lay down the law wherever we
play. This old dog might be getting older, but we just might
hang around another 15 years!!

Here's The Official Site.

The song is taken from "lifesblood for the downtrodden"

Obviously it is the standout track on the album in my
opinion. His voice appears more tame than on other albums
which might make this a bit more accessable to you.

Power and N.O.L.A Sludge! Good to listen to when you are
pissed or drunk or whatever. Good pinnicle metal!

Enjoy!

Alright, listening to the tune as I'm writing.

Nice heavy start, but it sounds like it could dwell into
something nu-metal(which I really really hate). Here comes
the vocal, interesting blend of screeching and screaming.

I'm not much of a fan of those "clean" vocal-parts, they
remind me too much of crap like Incubus. This is definitely
not my type of metal, it's got some nice and droning
qualities, but the overall feeling is far too "emo" and
"angry-teenage-movie-soundtrack" for my likings.

Very clean and in-your-face production. Don't know what else
to say about it, not my type of metal.

However, this is a very good idea, great concept that I can
imagine living on for a while!

Actually it sounds like the kind of accessable metal that
most people play on vorspiels/pre-parties in Noway.

SWIRVE - a local DFW band consisting of a trumpet
player w/ effects pedals and a drummer.

i agree with the impakt about the vocals. i really don't
like clean vocals in metal. it really bothers me. i
thought crowbar was the band that had the screaming ten
years ago? what happened to them?

"AKA NO OTHER LINKS TO SONGS AND NO EXTRA BAND
DISCUSSION unless you are cool about it"

ahem! :p

Impakt. Nu metal is far removed from these gentlemen.
Although you might be interested in their earlier work
stemming back from 1992. This is a bit on the softer side.
Anyways i wish i could get a good pic of the vocalist. He
looks like he could move some ass in the pit

yeah, it's grind stuff alright. sorry, i've sort of fell out
of "mainstream" metal lately - i guess it's because the rock
stations around where i live suck hard. that' and i burnt
myself out on it in high school.

Its cleaner but it still has his rough feel. I can dig it
although its softer. I listened to the rest of the album and
this is as good as it gets folks :(

Overall i like the song but expected more (like the older
material)

song: 4/5

album 1.9/5

ah

minus idm!

ok. impressions as the song goes.. i'm not a metal man by
any definition of the word...

the drummer must be bored... I don't think I'll find
anything in this that I like from what I've heard this far..
the singer sounds like he's trying to be metallica or
whatever... didn't like the guitars much either. I can't
stop thinking about that poor drummer.. he's probably (most
likely) got some skills, and he doesn't get to show them...

offline r40f from qrters tea party on 2005-09-16 15:43 [#01725402]

yeah, this track is just too polished for me... between the
vocals and just the way the instruments sound... it's just
too streamlined. it doesn't have the raw heaviness i like
to hear.

I clicked and had a listen, but it wasn't my cup of
tea/coffee. It reminded me of being extremely drunk, sitting
in a chair just waiting for the fog to clear up. Maybe
impakt put those thoughts in my head when saying it was
standard pre-party music. That might just be.
Don't know what more to say actually. Thanks for you hard
work though, Brian.

This track was better, sounds like some kind of
hardcore/death/thrash fusion. Definitely better than the
previous one, by far.

i LOVE! Crowbar!

Big Up yourself Viginpusher. The heaviness of their music is
umnatched in the genre.

The first track was pretty weak. It was a kind song that
keeps me grinding my teeth at the fact that I really could
play the guitar part. The clean vocal parts reminded me of
early Deftones, but than the singer's inclinanation towards
alcohol was revealed. I would've loved it 7 years ago or so.
A band I liked, Corozone, played similar sounds, maybe a
little more musical imagination, but on the other hand, the
singer had a terrible accent. I really couldn't make out
what he was mumbling and he insisted on using English.

Ha! The second one was so much better. Hard-core influences
really came into light. So many memories... Biohazard
HAHA... I'm surprised I didn't know Crowbar when I was in
high school.

I agree that doom-core is a perfect name for this sound.
