as you have probably noticed, the young metanoia media label has released its first physical CD... and what's there behind a so nice cover and few free extracts,hu ? let me tell you : -rope dancer : marvelous elastic vocal beats in the autechre style (but autechre never used their mouths to do such a stuff...). Brilliant introduction to samuel's universe -little dance...: schhhluuurps, bleeps and blops then add sugar melodies, shake it, add 8 bit style perfect composition and you've got the perfect soundtrack for Rayman86, well maybe under acid... -flutes ta'toot : piano/glockenspiel intro, it's begin like an old R.Wyatt song then a beat and sam'voice appears and for a second, i thought i was listening to The Cure (!). this evolves in a quiet song far from Idm stuff, but not for a long time...efficient beats come back and won't leave you till the end. harlequin : fantastic interlude with evolving sounds - from metalic things to something more organic. Simply brilliant ! tip the light : dark bumping hip-hop meets The Legendary Pink Dots and the whole thing morphs into a slow industrial ambient piece. A wonderful track... Pittura : complex and punchy rythms, naïve melodies and, after a short pause some classical piano gimmiks infiltrate(?) into your ears and leave you far from where it starts. Teredo : back to complex rythms with smart and fresh melodies everything surrounded by a dark atmosphere...some fantastic 'worm-vocals' (congrat tibs ;)).. old Tuxedomoon meeting the Idm scene...and the song ends in a fabulous way with samuel's vocals and 80's industrial references. A pure gem ! The cross : Very beautiful ambient piece that perfectly ends this album (well not really...a surprise is included...) the 50 first orders will be available with a cd-r (if you like JM Basquiat, the velvet underground, warhol and the whole Factory spirit...you won't be disapointed...)...and this whole bunch for 8 bucks ! it's a shame they still have some to sell !
