questions on durkqs

this is a post i made in the "just bought drukqs" topic (by
flappy pants), but i thought it could head another topic...

like woofer would say:
which do you prefer: cd1 or cd2 on drukqs?
I cant decide
other question:
would you change the order of the tracks?
i wouldnt
and the last:
do you think it would have been better to compile the best
tracks in one only cd?
I dont

I would like to see your different opinions, I know many of
you think drukqs sucks... well I love druqks... just wanted
to make myself clear.

I know many of you will make fun of this topic as i wrote
durkqs instead of DRUKQS... it was a mistake... please
answer the questions first and then laugh at me for that...
:-)

I wouldn't change a thing. I think the running order on an
album like this is unimportent, both CDs have their merits,
and the way it is it means that you keep discovering new
things about tracks which make you like em - I've got a new
favourite track off the fucker every week.

DnB on CD one, piano stuff on CD two.

naw, i like how he mixes it up

DnB then head right into a soft piano track, then right into
another dnb one.

its almost perfect.

song 15 on cd1 owns

Can't Decide
Change the order? no just erase them.
Onto One CD Yes.

like I said in the other thread

I love drukqs, both CDs about equally, but I think every
other track on drukqs is a complete waste of time, no matter

how much I love RDJ and want to call his parents singing him

happy birthday "genius", I know that there is at least a
whole CD
worth of filler...

RDJ Himself said I find myself reorganizing and taking
tracks I like off CD's I buy, its an MP3 album. "I hope
people will do that with Drukqs"...I will find you the
quote.

Is that tune for Kesson Daslef original? It reminds me of
some piano melody I've heard a lot before. Is it a famous
piece that he just played for the album?

well, the order on drukqs is definately different from his
other stuff....... or is different not accepted..... are we
becoming communist?!!? :-O ... oh cay, I took that a BIT too
far!

its definately a good piece of workmanship and ive realy
found it a brilliant mix tool especialy when doing
particularly breaky hiphop sets!

i'm able to make my own drukws compilation.. so i'm quite
happy...

i don't have any preferences over disc 1 or 2 because i just
never listen to the record like it is.

but i'd still say that disc 1 is the most catchy. and disc 2
has some more complex tracks.

here it is xanatos:

Do you think that people can fully appreciate a double cd
of yours?

RDJ: You could listen to all of it in one ago but I
think you’d be dead if you did.

So the only real reason why you are putting an album out
now is because you wanted to officially release as many
tracks as possible before they get around unofficially?

RDJYeah, pretty much. It’s kind of like an mp3
album really. I don’t reckon that many people will do it,
but the way I listen to music now is that I buy a CD, put it
on the computer and just take the tracks I want anyway.
I’d hope that people would to the same with this
CD.

yeah I wouldn't fool with the order myself... It's cool the
way it is... and I like cd2 better I think... there's a few
songs on cd1 that I don't like, whereas cd2 is great all
through...

hmm..aphex does have that quality..I was positive I had
heard the melody of Donkey Rhubarb when I heard it..I think
it's this ability to tap into the subconscious and evoke
memories out of meoldies that makes RDJ ..RDJ

too true -

but

"RDJYeah, pretty much. It’s kind of like an mp3 album

computer and just take the tracks I want anyway. I’d hope

is quite a cool idea : that drukqs is just a collection of
songs / not an album as such [not saying that it is] .. and
then making your own cd-r or two of the original 2cds - in a
way makes it more personal .. and up to you what you want
the track listing to be like etc ... ? :)

but i hear ya flea

there's enough good stuff on both cd's to make me like both
discs equally.

a) I like it the way it is and agreed with nacmat
generally.
b) Durqks? Ha ha ha!

I prefer CD1 by far.

I think the order is fine. The album has so many completely
different styles on it that it'd be quite hard to have any
sort of progression on it, unless you made one disc an
ambient disc and the other a d'n'b disc. Actually, that'd be
kinda cool :P

Nope, why get less when you can have more?

offline BobTheMute from Battle Creek (United States) on 2002-02-26 04:42 [#00102330]

It's real close, but I like the first disk as I prefer the
good tracks on it(like cock/ver... good stuff) and you cant
forget the piano bits, man... the piano bits!

the order? dunno... but they do mix the styles up pretty
good.

Nope.. I'm greedy. I want as many songs as possible, even if
I have to skip a few :)

1. i prefer CD1....most definately. when i first got drukqs
i listened to it 3 times before moving on to the next disc.

2. i wouldn't change the order of the tracks, one doesn't
stick out as being out of place IMO.
3. definately not compile all into one disc, i like having
BOTH disc's. while i like the #1 disc more, the second disc
is VERY listenable also.

agreed nacmat, i LOVED druqks =]

-dont change track order
-compile one + an ep

1. CD one (only cos its a hard thing to listen to in one go
and harder to choose a good track order)

2. yes (but to what i don't know)

3. no - the 'imperfections' in certain tracks bring out the
good ones

it's not a flowing album but i don't think that it tries to
be. there are some nice standout tracks but as a whole its
not a quality album
