So I finally ordered one of these. I am getting it used, but apparently in mint condition, through ebay. I am really excited, seeing as I have wanted one ever since I have read about them, about six months ago. Although I am probly going to have to move some stuff around on my desk and free up a mixer channel. The modulation routing options look exciting. Plus having a true analogue synthesizer with true analogue filters will be nice.

I like the samples I've heard of it. It can make some round buttery velvety tones.

Yeah. For dry samples they sound very lush. Most companies will have uneffected sounds as demos, and they sound awfull.

Heh... I already have.
Financing ;)
This I am able to buy it because of the half annual bonus check that should be in on thursday, and the two statutory holidays I am going to be getting on my next paycheck, which also happens to arrive on thursday (my company pays doubletime and a half on stat holidays, and birthdays are considered stat holidays, so I am getting about 500 dollars extra this week).

How do you buy gear on credit? Do you get a visa card?

Well, I have a credit card with a decent limit, and usually when I buy a piece of gear, I pay the down payment (anywhere between 20%-50%) in cash, and then get the rest billed monthly in equal installments to my credit card. The only reason I have the credit card is for gear financing.

How can you buy vintage gear on credit though? I don't think there are many stores with old gear.

Well, the evolver is not vintage. Its designed to use the best parts of digital and analogue to achieve a rich and powerfull sound.
For buying vintage gear on credit, the two main equipment stores in vancouver, long & maquade and tom lee both buy used gear, and they both do financing. Although I like the financing at long & maquade better. They pretty much do it on a handshake, and don't require 50% down for first time financees.
I am probly going to try to get a nord lead 3 or alesis andromeda next. Most likely the nord.
