After more than three and a half years of sporadic work I finally completed my LP. As always, it's an attempt at an aesthetic combination of early 90's production music and stereotypical left-wing electronica. If anyone is interested, there are some mp3s here.
Thanks for reading!

I haven't visited a geocities site in over 5 years, however I am now downloading.
Ok, so far "Nothing can stop me today", the only link I can get to work, is among one of the greatest things I've heard today, or indeed for a while. That's quite a take you've got on early 90s style, a style I believe that still has a lot to be used and abused. I can't think who you remind me of... there's something there... this is a bit too good. I LOVE IT I think your data transfer has been exceeded or something, I will host the files for you if you want, I believe in The Stephanie Tanner Suprise.

why thank you, that would be great if you've got extra space. I wasn't sure how big geocities' bandwidth was.. but apparently not big enough...

That's not a bad idea. I had an mp3.com account back in the day, but they bit the dust a long time ago if I'm not mistaken.

That's pretty reasonable really.. I'm looking into it.
dog_belch was kind enough to host one of the tracks here temporarily, by the way.

for some reason I constantly get the feeling that the bassline in "nothing can stop me today" is off, but for the life of me I can't figure out in which context.

Maybe lowering the resonance and the envelope depth a bit might help make it sound a bit more logical. When the envelope attack is set that high on a sound that sees that much activity, it usually sounds retarded. Maybe lowering the attack would help too.

And when I say envelope depth, I mean the filter envelope depth.

AHHHHHHHHH, I know what it reminds me of now, A Certain Ratio "I won't stop loving you" Bernard Sumner mix. I guess that's just me though.

I had those parameters set high relatively intentionally.. because I wanted a cornball burbly sound. but..
As far as attack goes, does the bassline sound 'off' rhythmically? I assumed the past few comments were suggesting that the tone was off harmonically. Although either way, I probably can't even hear it anymore because I got so used to it while I was making it.
dog_belch: I bet it was satisfying to clear that up :) I remember I had a melody stuck in my head for *months* that I thought was from a poppy Japanese album like Pizzicato 5 or something. When I finally heard it again it turned out to be Steely Dan. Go figure.

to me it sounds harmonically off. but there isn't much with which it could be off of with of over.
which is why I can't figure it out! :)

I don't think the music is very interesting, but then again you say you're going after a particular style, and it might just be that I'm not into that style.
I remember a full house episode where someone stole the youngest daughter's bicycle, so the three men of the house went out looking for it, each of them coming back with a bike they thought was the one that was lost. They and the youngest daughter were arrested and await a court date in January.

Ah yes, I know that episode. Turns out she lent the bike to a friend and forgot about it, thus rendering her 3 dads criminals. Good stuff.
Thanks anyway for listening to the track :)
