it is mind numbingly boring but fun to get drunk to at a
live game while pretending to watch. every now and again
something happens, like the guy hits the ball very far.

because its fun, exciting, technical, skillful, historic...
how can people sit on the internet all day? honestly, what
an immature attitude.. if only more kids were into cricket
instead of gta and 50 cent there'd probably be a lot less
bullying etc.

i don't watch sports at all, so all sports are boring to me.
i prefer more creative ventures.

I enjoy sitting down and watching it, it's hypnotic and
enough of a non event that I can watch it to clear my mind.

I hated it my entire life and then kinda got enthralled with
a particular match, and I've been able to watch it ever
since.

however, NEVER like Golf.

you WILL like golf, i promise you. try playing it.. i hated
it so much before trying it. then my folks arranged some
family gathering golf thing, i was a bit sceptical but i
tried it.. and it was actually.. and quite surprisingly
quite fun. i think its really hard, but its just a great
feeling actually hitting the ball correctly and see it fly
100 meters.

i think that's an immaturre attitude. not everryone can be
good at sporrts orr enjoy sporrts and it cerrtainly doesn't
stop bullying. at school it was always the bullies that
werre good at football and crricket and that just made it
easierr to pick on us that werren't. like me. i was
subjected to fielding everry single game of crricket i everr
played at school. not only that i was norrmally picked by
default because therre was no one left to pick. that's a
fucking blow forr yourr self-esteem. sporrt and the wankerrs
that taught it did nothing at school but make me feel
inadequate.

oh dear... the "sports at school" thing i can relate to
so much. -_-

i was always bullied, and always the worst of the class, at
almost every sport, even if i tried. the only time i
won any 2-player sport match was that time when i was
against someone who blatantly let me win, out of boredom or
out of pity (it was a ping-pong match and he wasn't even
moving).

i remember there was a compulsory running contest in high
school... and i did try to do my best. but my legs were
burning at the end, i was the last in all high school (or
second to last) and i just couldn't run anymore. so when i
finally arrived the few people left laughed and thought i
did the whole thing walking and not running. well i fucking
should have done it walking, or -better- have found
any random excuse to not doing it. or have run away from the
circuit and got back home through the fields or whatever.
there was no point nor any hope for me in trying this
fucking contest and i still feel stupid about having tried
it like everyone else now.

...
funnily enough, after the running contest was over,
when i headed back home, i felt like running. and i did.
whereas everyone else was exhausted. and even though i
couldn't run at the end of the contest... i also won
a short distance kind of "running contest", but not in
school class - in a school trip with friends. you know the
sort of thing, "the first at the gate wins!" then running,
like, 100 meters very fast. and i did get to the gate first
every time, still surprises me now.

maybe it was psychological. i really don't know.

as for liking cricket...

it sure can look ilke a mystery : )
but some people like the strangest things.

a far bigger mystery for me is:
why would anyone, by his/her own free will, not being
obliged by any means nor lack of money nor anything, want to
join the army?!

it's funny that you ask that in this topic - i had a pe
teacher who used to be in the army and i asked him why he
joined, what did he want from it? he said that he signed up
with a few of his mates, that they all had the same reason,
which was simply that they wanted to kill someone

adventure?

i mean, don't get me wrong, i don't have any desire
whatsoever to join the army, but it's not beyond the scope
of my imagination that some people could see it as quite
adventurous and stimulating. maybe gives them a sense of
belonging, and importance?

I wanted to see exotic Vietnam... the crown jewel of
Southeast Asia. I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating
people of an ancient culture... and kill them. I wanted to
be the first kid on my block to get a confirmed kill!

people drink all day, or however long the match lasts.
