Has anyone ever seen this short lived tv show called "Man
Versus Beast"? It was retarded. It had people fighting
animals like bears. Stoopid.

Incredible, I thought that the shark won, instead no.. I
like sharks anyway, they are incredible predators.

I thought that was the one where a dude would be in a
footrace against a giraffe or something

that's what I said to my roomate.... I kept picturing myself
snared in those lolling tenticles... *shudders*

both octopi and sharks are amazing animals that I have the
utmost respect for, so when 2 of them fight I can only bow
my head in quiet tribute.

hey, this just in... there are shark links at the bottom of
this thread... is that supposed to be some kind of
intelligent ad system?

it is indeed. google scans the page and picks completely
random words to associate the ads with.

yeah that show was retarded, they would build a model of the
jaws of each animal and test how strong its bite was, and
whichever was stronger would just arbitrarily win. They
never took into account external factors of a battle, such
as the environment being more suited for one of the animals,
or simply the possibility that a physically 'weaker' animal
could still be a more efficient killer.

i saw this one show where they deeply analyzed a bear
attacking a human. they made models of the bears claw and
showed what just one swipe could do to a human's head.
pretty fucking intense shit.

jesus, that does sound pretty intense... On the one hand I
would kind of like to see that, but on the other, I would
probably never look at smokey the bear the same way again.

I saw that discovery show, too. Awful. Like zephyr said,
they just tested the relative strengths of some arbitrary
forces.. like, comparing the ramming power of a rhinocerous
with the smashing strength of an elephant's trunk. It took a
tiny amount of content and stretched it over an hour long
show (for some reason I watched the whole thing). Worst of
all, most of the narrator's comments were just wordplays on
presenting how strong the animals are.

"this massive beast's strength..."
"this armored tank's defense system is.."
"this animal is a walking talking animal time bomb, waiting
to explode with ferocious helicopter like strength at any
moment."
