Music is stored on a 512 megabyte memory card and the
numbers of songs on board is capped at 100 - even if a
bigger capacity card is used.

that's an excellent feature

But if I buy a 2GB memory card

Cheap SD Cards
Wide selection of SD cards. All at really low prices

for my iPod phone I can still fit a maximum of 100 songs and
have all the other space free to use for my Crazy Frog
screensavers and happy slap videos.

they must've thought this thing up, then went "oh shit, we
can't be serious.. I'm sorry guys, we're going too far
now.."

and another Guy said "what if.. what if the owner can only
have 200 songs on it, however great the capacity of the
memory card is..!"

"..I like it.."

"NO! do a hundred! do a hundred!"

"oooh man I'm feeling better about myself already."

"Mr Schmidt said that with this first device, music can
only be downloaded from a PC to the phone.

But, he said, Motorola was talking to operators about future
versions that can download songs via the airwaves."

yes.. it's called: radio.

maybe they think most people only like 100 songs

or maybe it was a joke, to them.

"come on.. most people can't name 20 songs they like."
"let's do a hundred, ha ha!"

or... they only WANT us to like 100 songs as part of another
marketing scheme. 100 mp3s for £100. - "not too many,
not too little, just the right number"

surely they would've done a number like 99 or 97, then. to
look more edgy.

yeah, obviously they are intentionally crippling it so they
can sell a 'better' version later that can 'hold' 200 songs,
etc..

as with everything, someone will hack the firmware to allow
unlimited songs.

they just know that people are stupid enough to buy
anything. i can just imagine Joe Walmart now, buying his
IPod Fun Fone, "oh, is this a cd player? how many songs
will it hold? a hundred?! ho-ly shi-it... what a bargain
- it comes with a hundred songs! AND a phone?"

Jesus fucking christ, this is retarded. I thought the iPod
shuffle was ridiculous. A 1gig player WITHOUT A FUCKING
SCREEN.

But this, this just takes the cake in terms of "RETARDED
THINGS FOR RETARDED PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN HYPED."

Fuck I hate the word ipod. I hate ipods. I cringe whenever I
hear someone talking about ipods. I am just looking forward
to microsoft making one, so I can hear even more complaints
about stupid overpriced mini-appliances that don't work.

"The great thing about our Microsoft Silo is you don't
need to think about choosing what song you want to listen
to, similar to the iPod shuffle. As a matter of fact, you
don't even need to download music into it, because it comes
with a built in realplayer micromodem that automatically
plays one of your choice of three great realplayer
broadcasts. And as an added bonus, after every third song,
the silo will give you a big blue screen and then stop
working forever."

Fuck. I still can't believe they are pawning an mp3 player
that doesn't give you a choice over what song you play an
innovation. Thats not an innovation. Thats their designers
getting lazy and deciding to get drunk the night before an
important presentation, and then showing up the next day
hungover, with a cardboard cuttout that they made a year
beforehand as an office joke.

"This is the first device in a series,"
said Carsten Schmidt, European manager for Motorola's retail
operations...

The gadget is expected to cost $249.99 (£136). Buyers must
commit to a two-year contract...

The Carphone Warehouse is advertising the phone on the O2
network for £209.99..

So basically this the shit ripoff version, they will bring
out a decent one in about 3 years (even though they could
release it now) just like the ipod.

I think that the phones won't prove as popular as they're
hoping, just like the G4 Cube. On the other hand, the
iPodnano might finally get me to buy. I was thinking of
getting a mini iPod before, and now it's just a better deal.
