I didn't know about this untill now, but this news makes this month one of the best in a while for new music.
Have you tried any of the NI synthetic drums 2 samples? Murcof did one of the kits for it.

Its good. Richard devine did a kit. Plaid did a kit. Atom did a kit. as did einoma, telefon tel aviv, and a bunch of other idm icons, as well as some younger artists. And as much as I hate just using samples from a single source, or someone elses material, it really fun just spending a couple hours with some samples and absynth, and coming out with something that sounds just like richard devine.
My those samples sound lush. Darker, and more uptempo than his previous stuff.

it's nice. going by the samples (in descending order), this is the perfect music to:
1. buy furniture to
2. secretly take photographs of someone
3. just rostro out

I mean Alex is insane. To me it sounds closer in spirit to something like Plastikman. With an orchestra. Or something.

I'm sorry, I can't help it! it sounds so polished and kind of predictable, and a bit boring. it just doesn't surprise me in any way, or makes me go "did I just hear that right".

luckily that isn't what I said, then.
but this does fall into my definition of what people tend to refer to as "IDM".

Murcof takes orchestra music, samples plucks and stabs, then isolates the decay, and makes pads out of that. As far as I know, thats where he gets most of his sounds from.
Honestly, what people refer to as IDM, I see as more of a description for the richard d james or autechre fields of music. This has the same level of intricate dsp, but its much more musical.
But then its also extremely subtle, so I could see how some people might not feel it.

had that 'remembranza' for two weeks or so, but i dont use slsk coz my computer and slsk doesnt get along very well :( so couldnt share it for ya guys. anyone using dc++?
'remembranza' is nice, but i find 'martes' far more exciting and innovative. though ive listened to 're..za' just a few times. great thing is that a big deal of this new album is made out of samples that were exclusively recorded for it.
im sure you noticed that theres a pattern in the tracks names: on the 'Martes' album name as well as all of the tracks names begin with the letter M, except for the last one which is named Unison; on 'Remembranza' all tracks begin with R except the last one - Camino.
So, one can easily derive an MURC acronym...I bet his next album is going to be named O....something. Orgy, oblivion, obliteration, oblahblah, with the last song fucker, forge, furor.
So, i ask you, does this mean hes only going to release three albums under this alias?
