go have a look, sounds lush

now one of two things will happen:

1) 10 people will say 'its been posted before moron'
2) people will go listen to it

no. sounds like they've gone back to MHTRTC and then gone
sideways! :-)

hellinterface - i can see what you're saying, but i can
imagine it become a real grower, + once its actually in the
context of the rest of the album im sure it will sound 100
hotter

i love that track. boc stuff is usually about the context of
the album. it's not the sort of music that necessarily works
as a single imo, certainly not compared to 'firestarter' by
the prodigy, or 'waterloo' by abba.

wow, it sounds just about like everything else BoC have
done.

no surprise there then. :P

oh my, that sounds real dull. if aphex's next album is going
to be crap as well, im going to focus on classic music.

i've heard very few BOARDS OF CANADA songs, but i thought
this track was really nice. it sounds like all those
imitation tracks, except it's good.

oh you moaning minnies (those who were moaning). you twine
and grumble about no boc and get yourselves all worked up
for a masterwork of untrammelled genius and then twine and
grumble that the new stuff when it does come out isn't as
great as you imagine.

upon first listen i thought MHTRTC was a bit bland too. (and
i still blame my mind for doing so...:P)

as another interesting point.
the bleep preview is mono. i cant find any documentation
about if they all are on bleep or not. i know they are lower
quality mp3s.
Q: AM I LISTENING TO THE FINAL MP3?
A: No. The bleep player plays a low-quality (and thus
quick-loading) 90kbps version of the final mp3. The sound
quality of the final downloaded version is far better and to
most people indistinguishable from a CD.

i wonder if all the tracks are single channel, and if so, do
they downmix, or just encode on channel. i guess it would
have to be downmixed.

this is an interesting point, because so much stuff really
would loose something on downmixing, but of course this is
just a sample, so if you think this sounds good, imagine
what the cd will sound like.
well mp3s are shit anyways, even higer bitrate ones.

offline denniscpearce from Canada on 2005-09-04 21:25 [#01715366]
Points: 1562 Status: Regular

crap, i just realized that the normal mp3 version is for
sale, ive pulled my bleep preview mp3 i had up, for some
reason i figured that it was a preview only thing (like the
jackson tracks), so it would seem fine (as far as im
concerned), in that case , to distribute the low quality
preview file, but as it is actually for sale, its obvious
that if you want 'repeated listening' you should just buy
it.
although i am going to wait for the album release because i
dont buy mp3s.

it'll spread like wildfire anyway, but just so you'll feel
better, I deleted it.

im not actually concerned about that, i just realized that
it was silly for me to have put up.
the thing is that it only needs on person to spend the $1.35
to have the 'real' version of the mp3, which would spread
just as fast if not faster.
not that this should surprise anyone, including warp, as
they have made a good decision with their no-drm stance.

hence my "wildfire" comment. and although I don't care that
much, phobiazorro would've deleted it anyway.

Oh so silly, anyone who can sort their firefox cache by
date/time can retrieve the file and rename it boctober.mp3

..which would have been appropriate.
but what if it was indead a 'preview' clip, with no purchase
option?

my thinking was that clearly they want people to hear it.
say with the jackson album. maybe there was some decision to
get it out in some form to get peoplehearing it. you know,
get hype up.

it doesnt matter anyways, i just mean that i think i am
generally pretty good about these things.

And so it came to pass that dennispearce ran back and forth
whimpering and wringing his hands over the fate of a low
bitrate promotional mp3

well...i have sinned, and thusly....

no but really, i like this track a lot.... i am really
looking forward to the album... is there any sort of
single/ep type release in conjunction with the album? either
befoer or after?
i guess they dont do that much.

And the people of Zilty would see him stumble by, mumling to
himself "What if it was indeed a preview clip, with no
purchase option?" and the people would stop him in the
street and tell him "dennispearce, we do not care about your
posting of the mp3, it was No Big Deal".

but all to no avail, for he would turn around and continue
his lonely journey, forever repeating these words to
himself: " i am generally pretty good about these things, i
am generally pretty good about these things".
