There have been some good albums this year. Right now I am
quite liking Electrelane's "Axes" and "We Are Monster" by
Isolée.

ok... checking out releases from 2005 i know...

Aarktica - Bleeding Light
pretty good. but not catchy. i can't remember a single
melody nor anything from that actually... just that i quite
liked it. huh? ' _'

Beck - Guero
very good. maybe a little bit sub-par compared to some other
Beck albums, but not so much to be deceiving... lots of
lovely tracks. well worth checking out in my opinion. : )

Beck - Hell Yes EP
four 8-bit remixes of Guero tracks... two are just ok, but
the other two are so great them alone make this release a
very good one. if you like Beck and 8-bit tracks, you'd
better check this out. (it hasn't been released on CD though
- just vinyl and mp3)

Coil - ...and the ambulance died in his arms
a splendid live recording of one of the last Coil shows, at
ATP festival... quiet and very beautiful. one of the best
releases of 2005. i highly recommend this.

The Fiery Furnaces - EP
some tracks were a bit too poppy to my taste, but some are
very good and quite catchy.

Gang Gang Dance - God's Money
very good. can't find a way to describe it though... on a
forum i visit, this was the "best-loved" album at some time,
everyone was taking about it... worth checking out.

General Patton vs. The X-ecutioners
just as crazy and just as good as Mr Bungle, but hip-hop
style - lots of samples, but used cleverly; can be a tiring
listen at first but once you've gotten into it, it's
excellent : )

Adam Green - Gemstones
good one. indie pop with a hint of crazyness and nonsense...
just listen to the first track (which is also the
title-track), in its entirety (important!), and you'll know
if you like it or not. it's a short album, but it's the
appropriate duration i think.

Ivy - In The Clear
sweet radio-friendly pop music... i must admit i quite like
it, at least some tracks... but maybe a little too
radio-friendly to my taste.

Kciezyc - Kciezyc
i'm actually not sure that this is from 2005... but anyway
you know about it already ^^

Khanate - Capture & Release
haven't heard it yet (i'm not even sure this has already
been released...), but i need to. the first two Khanate
albums are mindblowing. doom metal is not everyone's cup of
tea, but if you like the genre or are at least interested in
it, it's a fucking amazing band. start with the self-titled,
maybe.

The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute
i'm actually listening to it right now. and i love it so
far. one of the best of 2005, as far i know and as far as
i'm concerned.

Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
this one has been already discussed enough on this
messageboard... ' _ -

Nurse With Wound - Echo Poeme no.2
i've just heard sound samples from it so far, but it sounds
interesting... and unlike most music (if not unlike every
music) NWW has made so far. the album is made entirely out
of cut-up, female, french vocals. half-spoken, half-sung.

Queenadreena - The Butcher & The Butterfly
good, but maybe my least favourite by the band so far as it
lacks the "freshness" of the two first albums (it pretty
much continues on the same style as the second, but a bit
sadder and darker, and not as "fun" and direct).
"Childproof" is a very beautiful acoustic track, my
favourite so far.

Shining - In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A
Monster

everyone says it's great but i haven't quite got into it
yet. first track is very good, but from the third track it
becomes boring to my ears... i haven't even listened to it
in its entirety (yeah, i know, it's not good).

Favorites so far-

I Monolake- Polygon Cities
II Origami Galaktika- Horisont
III Qntal- IV Ozymandias
IV Xiu Xiu- La Foret (even though it disapointed me, Muppet
Face is one of the best songs I've ever heard and that's
enough for me)

Saving spot number 5 for the new Jan Jelinek I bet.

yeah, should be awesome!
btw, have you got that 1991 - 1994 (i think) compilation of
his that came out this year? i think it's only about 6 songs
but it's pretty great. im sharing it, so in case you're
interested it's in my soulseek folder. (im not home atm so i
can't be more specific tho :)

Is it Exposures? I can't find anything in your files,
they're messy, meng! I searched the aphextwin.nu room and
got ''Exposures 2000-2004''... and 2000-2004 is not

Cool album but it was first released in...

1996! Which was a very long time ago. A lot of stuff at
strangefortune is re-releases of older stuff, you gotta read
the little blurbs carefully for context.
