This monday i'm going to the record store and buy Boards Of
Canada...BUT: I'm going to let you decide which one i should
buy..that's right, I want YOU to decide whether i should buy
Music Has The Right To Children or Geogaddi.
Majority rules.

Both of course, what's wrong with you ?!

But I'd go for Music has the Right... if you reeeally
rrrreeeally can only pick one.
But both are superb. Though very much alike. Geogaddi is IMO
a direct extention of Music Has The Right..., it doesn't add
anything new to the BOC sound I think, but why change a
winning formula eh ?

yeah, after thinking about it for a bit, i think that music
has the rightto children would be better as a first boc
record.

yea, music has the right to children, its got longer
songs....lol once you get used to the long songs, and if
kaini industries doesnt bother you, which if it does i KICK
YOU VARY HARD, er uh, if the short songs dont bother u then
DEFINATELY get geogaddi
but like half of the songs are 30 secnds to 1 minute
long...
i am done babbling

I like ur pic flappypants.

So far from how much Geogaddi I have listened to I would
have to say Music Has the Right. Geogaddi sounds like they
recorded it at the same time as MHTRTC but they released it
later, its the exact same style. But like you said diego,
why change a winning formula?

I just bought geogaddi this evening....
i hope it gets better with time
I need evolution and i cant see it here

i think geogaddi definetly gets better with every listen.

And everyone said it sounds the same as MHTRTC... I just
can't see that. It sounds quite a bit different to be. It's
EP7 to Confield jump, but it does evolve.

Hmmmm...If you ONLY CAN BUY ONE.....

Wow...I guess I would tell you MHTRTC.....

This is only because this is what "laid the gauntlet".....
This is one of the finest pieces of music in the last 10
years.

BUt do not trust what I say for too long....I have the
attention span of a goldfish when it comes to BOC....I think
EVERY ALBUM is better than the other and reversed.....

Bye...Bye....Bye.......Bye.....

I think the way in which MHTRTC sounds like Geogaddi is only
at the surface level. If you listen to Geogaddi with any
depth and emotional conenction at all you should be able to
realize that the place it takes you is far different from
Music Has; or it seems very apparent to me anyway. Imo, I
don't see how Geogaddi could sound like it was done in the
same session as Music Has. I'd recomend buying them in
order including the EPs, but if you can't get Hi Scores then
get Music first. It will be quite the prep for Geogaddi!

I will always prefer mhtrtc...but this last days I am
enjoying geogaddi very much... thanks to ironlung that was
the one that encouraged me to get into it after my first
weak impression

start with music has right to children. I always to try buy
bands\artists albums in the order they came out that way you
see a progression if theyre is any. or you can go in
reverse too and it still works.

i totally agree.

geogaddi is the same on the surfuce... but emotionally it is
soooo different

its very dark, and pessimistic.

everytime i listen, i seriously think of hell.

MHTRTC is dark... but in a relaxing way... that isnt
sinister... just moody if you will.

Id say get both... but if not... then start with MHTRTC...
just so you can prepare yourself for geogaddi... you wont
notice it at first... but man is geogaddi evil.

and buy geogaddi as soon as possible aftwards

it?

mine:

music is math

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-06-28 02:27 [#00287812]

i really cant pick one favorite... i have to listen to the
whole album

the album is like one long track for me

if anyone was to just play one song off of any BoC, and then
go to a different artist... id bash thier head in

well not really... but you get the idea.

I'd say start with MHTRTC and work your way up... that's
what I did... and plus, MHTRTC is the best of em anyways...
