what happend? it turned into some kind of cartoon version
of "family matters" or something. they aren't really funny
anymore.
it's a good thing we have family guy.

Its still a great show these days, but a number of factors
make it less enjoyable than the first 9 or so years.

I think partly they have covered all the obvious stories and
jokes from the original premise, meaning that the new
episodes are just that little bit more forced and there is a
hint of tiredness/runningout of steam that permeates the
episodes

Also I think maybe the current writing staff are simply not
as naturally funny people as the old skool.

That said, I still believe the past 3 or 4 years have had a
generous handful of classic episodes

simpsons have had to try to adopt the latest trend of
"random humor" (ie aquateen hungerforce, family guy, etc.)
and it just doesnt fit with the shows set up.

rip simpsons

They are probably saving up all of their jokes for the
Simpson's movie.

less intelligent more stupid and odd humour..
ive thought this for ages that simpsons have just gone CRAP
except this new new series (that we're getting in australia)
was pretty full on and got a few laughs, the episode after
that thought iddnt live up

i consider it to be shows that are less about making a
clever storyline that unfolds in hilarity and more about
throwing 4 million jokes at you a second and just makes you
go "holy shit! where did that come from?"

im not bashing it, mind you. family guy and aquateen are two
of my favorite shows. simpsons just dont do it well.

I remeber watching the simpsons on the tracy alman show. I
thought it was so incredibly hilarious. They sure looked
homemade back then.

family guy goes for the "out of left field where did that
come from " humor.

at first it was so hard to get my friends into family guy,
you really have to watch and pay attention, even then when
you are all bustin out laughing you miss like another 2 or
three jokes. when you watch the new ones you laugh for like
a second then stfu really quick as to not miss another joke
but on the dvd's you could watch the same episdoe like
2340987 times and still find/see/hear more shit that's funny
as fuck.

oh and just to keep this on topic imho i think the first
season of the simpsons is pretty lame too many morals in all
the story lines.

At the time, those Tracy Ullman sketches were hugely
groundbreaking. It's easy to look back and pick it apart,
but there was nothing like it then.

I once heard the cd of a band called 'The Maude Flanders
Conspiracy'.

EVOL, are you talking about the Tracy Ullman episodes? No
morals there, but no good jokes either. However even that
drafts are stellar compared to Family Guy and it's coarse
humour. Just my opinion.

nah, the tracy ullman bits were too short to even think
about a moral and yes they were ahead of their time. they
really hit their stride by the mid 90's and plateau'd up
untill 2000-01, imho of course.

this was the greatest show ever

and now it is one of the least funniest shows

how depressing

it's like watching your once lively dog die every year
