Vinyl worth getting into?

Yo,

I listen to all my music digitally; whatever I get hold of
will be converted into some digital format playable by some
application. The biggest drive for me to go out and
purchase music is either the artwork, but more commonly
higher fidelity/clarity than mp3.

Given my Audigy 2 can output 24-bit 192khz (?) audio, is
there any advantage in buying vinyl, and converting it to
flac (playing it via my hifi into a line-in on the audigy),
or will the loss in the analog->digital conversion outweigh
just buying a (16-bit) cd and encoding it digitally?

i don't know about all that but from my experience vinyl
sounds better than flac.

sure it's perhaps not your soundcard not being able to
reproduce the flac accurately?

yeah, i bought this audigy 2 yesterday, not too happy with
it so far, mid-range seems thin

what the hell do people here recommend in terms of
audiophile-quality audio output? i was thinking about
perhaps keeping this audigy 2 for games (better supported,
hardware decoding means faster FPS in games, definitely
noticable), and getting a second or external-usb based card
for audio.

i should probably add about 4 months ago, i bought a
chaintech AV-710 7.1 as i heard rave reviews about it.

i mostly listen to my music through headphones. i wasn't
impressed. apparently the card rocks for digital-out, but
is quite average for analog, and it's a software-based card
so it really pulled down frame rates in gaming. ended up
selling it.
